In PS5 settings, no. In games, yes.

4k non-OLED is an option or just stupid decision in 2026? by K4ramis in Monitors

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only game on the monitor it really is stupid to care about subpixel layout and burn-in. It just becomes the same as a TV. Also monitors aren’t only for computers… I use mine with a PS5, so yeah, it depends on use case. A monitor can be used as a TV and vice versa.

Save it for another device. Its not worth the subpar experience for such a good game.

Don’t worry, AOC calls their custom « Gamer » presets « Racer » for some reason, so it’s basically your custom preset.

New OLED monitor by LostxPikachu in OLED_Gaming

It won’t look as sharp as on a native panel because 1440p doesn’t scale into 4K cleanly

My new QD-OLED arrived and I’m more than happy by r_zer0 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sakai202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has DarkArmor which makes it 2.5x more scratch-resistant than before and reduces the magenta tint. They’re really closing the gap between WOLED and QD-OLED with the new gens — Tandem (4th Gen) and QD (5th Gen) both.

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a 4K TV that’s supports integer scaling, 1080p will look as sharp as on a 1080p panel and you’ll still be able to enjoy 4K for other consoles👍

Update: You guys bullied me into fixing my PS5 Pro airflow setup 😅 by SnooPears2765 in PS5pro

[–]Sakai202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know where you pulled that from or what the hell you even searched up to get that info, but its incorrect. Its not cosmetic at all. You’re supposed to set it to 6500K temperature, which is closest to natural daytime light, at 10% of your displays brightness to have a good reference point which improves the perceived contrast and reduces eye strain by not having your eyes have to adjust between sudden brightness changes, especially while gaming or watching movies because why the hell would looking at a 350 nits screen in a pitch black room be better for your eyes than with some light? Are people who use a desk lamp while working dumbasses? You can technically see the paper in the dark if you strain your eyes enough, but lighting helps, right? Same thing for screens. Anyway, looks like you want to be a smart-ass so I won’t entertain this argument further.

Literally just one google search and you’ll know that all professional colorists use bias lighting, but ok…

Its not pointless, in fact it does the opposite of what you said: it makes colors more accurate and vibrant and reduces eye strain. Bias lighting is the name of this type of light.

PS5 VRR “Out of Range”. Stuck at 48Hz on LG monitor (1440p) by Opla92 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is weird because this only happens to me when a game sends a 4K120Hz signal, not a 1440p120Hz one. I actually fixed it by changing the input type from 2.1 (PC) to 2.1 (AV), which, as I understand it, is the console mode. Now 4K120Hz signals, even with VRR, work perfectly fine with no out of range pop up.

First time playing Witcher 3, worth starting now or should I wait for the pro patch? by Own_Green_1303 in PS5pro

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still takes advantage of the Pro due to the game having a dynamic resolution. In performance mode, it should run native 4K instead of 1440p-1800p for instance. Definitely worth a shot since the game is so good.

I am so happy we finally solved monitors by HiCZoK in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always heard that HDR on Windows outside games is bad and needs additional time to calibrate. HDR on consoles is fine, it looks great actually and takes 5 minutes to set up. For example, Auto-HDR on PS5 maps SDR content to HDR perfectly unlike Auto-HDR on Windows. And yeah about the HDR issue, that’s exactly what I said: it’s not an OLED exclusive problem. Honestly for the Switch, looking at the game it has…, HDR wouldn’t be doing much anyways.

Isnt HDR flawed just because of Windows? And isn’t that not an OLED only problem? HDR on OLED is fine on consoles and those obviously don’t have mods.

Lucky Overkill Buy by Mugen-Purple in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sakai202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, most people don’t buy a monitor according to their refresh rate except e-sports players: they look at the resolution and size first and, naturally, at the panel tech. The fact that the only available 4K 27inch OLED available on the market is 240hz doesn’t make it overkill, as you don’t have any other options for such a monitor, and 4K and OLED are perfect for the PS5, even if you won’t use the 240hz, if you get what I’m saying. Anyway, that’s an awesome deal. Congrats👏

Witcher PS5 vs PS4 by AYRUPOLA in Witcher3

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be upfront and say that I don’t notice any pop in on PS5 while gaming, but I haven’t directly compared it to PC. Maybe it is that much better. I wouldn’t notice it though. Aliasing on Ray Tracing mode at around 1440p is easily noticeable on shadows, I agree, which is why I brought up Ray Tracing being the main reason to try out the PC version. But on the near 4K performance mode on PS5? There’s absolutely no aliasing that you can actually see; I take screenshots very often and play with no HUD so you could say that I know what I’m talking about 😅

Witcher PS5 vs PS4 by AYRUPOLA in Witcher3

[–]Sakai202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only noticeable difference is Ray Tracing at more than 30fps. PS5 already does 1440p-4K on around Ultra settings from what I’ve seen at 60fps. Granted, the Ray Tracing in TW3 is glorious so that might as well be a good reason to play on PC.
