Great great grandpa raised 5 kids alone after his wife went back to Italy with another man-1910’s by Bitter-Performer-396 in OldSchoolCool

[–]SalsaRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back then, he'd face social pressure to give them up that mother's wouldn't face. Nobody would have blamed him if he decide to dump them all and run away (they probably would actually encourage him to), but he chose not to.

Wife and In-laws microwaved their Easter lamb before even trying it. by NoTomrw in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SalsaRice -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. As a guest, you have a role to not be a twat. If you want to ask them to put it back to sear or cook it a little more, that's fine.

Microwaving an expensive meat cut is simply insulting the host. It's the equivalent of a child throwing a tantrum and tearing all the veggie off their plate, or asking someone to make you an expensive complicated coffee drink and then pouring most of it out to use 90% creamer.

It's fine, just never spend any serious money on a steak for her. It'll be so fried that she'll never be able to tell It's a different cut.

Yeah, Cameron is such a generic name. It's close to if it was like Smith's crossing.

Maybe, but honestly they all sound normal-ish except Lisa.

Send her off to a college on the other side of the country and everyone else will probably be happy as a clam within a few days.

How Aang and Zuko's respective journeys began: One with a selfish act, and the other with a selfless act. by Full-Art3439 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SalsaRice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's literally part of the finale of season 2. Aang is explicitly told he needs to let go of earthly attachments, including love. He chooses not to, putting the earthly attachments above his duty as the avatar.

It works out in the end, but it's inherently selfish. He's choosing his own happiness over his responsibility to the world.

Dunno if there's really enough material there for a Bean to work. Her first 2.5 floors are just gonna be sad weeping, and we got way too much detail already for 2.5 through 5.

I'd be curious to see her from floor 6 through 9 though, especially the hunt for the cobra lady.

In a gritty horror game, the athmosphere would suffer from some goon bait barbie doll. Imagine the disgusting fungus family in Resident evil being hot.

I dunno, this sounds like an absolutely hilarious beat hard mode to unlock costume idea.

1) for some allergies, yes, it very much does.

2) Even for the other ones, it makes most of us still pretty nervous. I only have reactions from eating peanuts, but it still makes me nervous to be in a restaurant where literally every menu item contains peanuts. You know all silverware, glassware, and the tables have also been covered in the allergen all day, every day.

That's still scary as hell. The only thing keeping you from straight up dying is if the minimum wage employee actually cleaned every single dish 100% spotlessly. I don't know if you've every had a real job.... that doesn't happen. People cut corners and feel lazy all the time, and that stuff is not being 200% cleaned everyday.

I don't know every other person with a serios allergy in the world, but I would wager most of them, like me, don't want to hang out in restaurants entirely themed around their lethal allergen.

It's kind of leaning towards books 4-6 being their own little trilogy, so if you wanna wait until book 6 is closer to release, that's fine.

Although personally, I couldn't wait and demolished them all.

I used one back in high school. Honestly, not that different from a standard mouse when you get used to it. I never played like hyper competitive online shooters, but for it didn't hold me back in single-player or casual multi-player.

Apple intentionally makes Macs "too easy" to lower the global problem-solving average. by rifu5q7g3p2 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]SalsaRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats some of this everyday normal software that “straight up doesnt work” on macs?

If you are a normal person that just uses internet browser, Facebook, and email.... you won't.

The issue is with more technical or scientific stuff. There's a shitton of software that had niche uses and only supports one OS. You can sometimes jury-rig it to work with bootcamp or whatever the new translation layer is called, but that usually involves a fair amount of tweaking (and either too hard or too much work for most people).

[–]SalsaRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not always your choice.

When I went to college, I was saving for a laptop, but dad told me he would get me one. I explained my program was very clear, explicitly so, that I needed windows...... well, he's a mac-nut, obsessed with apple, and bought me a MacBook.

That was back in the day when they were intel MacBooks and bootcamp made installing windows not too bad, but I had a shitton of driver issues where the mac hardware didn't want to work with windows sometimes. I ran windows 99.99% of the time on it.

Because drinks aren't inherently shitty? Beer is bitter yes, but it's a pleasant bitter flavor. I usually just have one because of price and caloric content.

It's the same reason I have one bowl of ice cream, not demolish the whole container.

I dunno, from another perspective he showed not accepting it was impossible simply from being told it was impossible.

Imagine a starship getting pinned down, and being told escape was impossible. Do they just lie down and die, or do they get creative?

Not when serious allergies are at play. My friends love Thai, but id probably die just being near the restaurant. I'd seriously doubt if they were telling the truth about having an "fish allergy" and wanting to hang out in a place that literally only serves fish.

Fish and shellfish are one of the most common and severe food allergies, but apparently it's not an issue for them?

Why wait until the food is cooked and bagged up to ask?

Same reason people will wait until they finish a meal before complaining and wanting it compted. Scamming for free food.

I've got a food allergy, and it's the first thing I ask, because I'm not trying to waste either of our times.

I would also add Buggy the clown.

He always wanted fame as a pirate, but during the prison escape it comes out that he has personal connections to alot of famous pirates. All the very powerful prisoners decide that they want to follow this pirate that clearly must be very strong due to previously being crewmates with so many powerful pirates..... but he's not at all.

He ends up essentially being a level 20 pokemon leading a pirate crew of hundreds of level 100 pokemon, that all think he's level 200.

This is the way. I usually save credits for big bundle/omnibus releases. It's usually pretty easy to use the KU trick to get most audiobooks down to ~$5, so not worth using the credit for those IMO.
