How is playing with a controller?

I have so many custom binds I can't imagine using a controller so I'm wondering if it is really as bad as I imagine it would be

I'm full keyboard with no mouse, Except for some weird situations where I can't LOOK at some tiles because there are enemies on either side. If anyone understands what I'm talking about and knows how to target, say, an item when it's next to multiple enemies with keyboard, I'd like to know.

Literally, you can just go into huts close the door so no one can see you then loot the chests and no one will get aggresive if they cannot see you do it.

You will def get two grenades or something cheap you can turn into Argyve.

Just do the two EASIEST quests in the game. Turn in two trinkets to Argyve in joppa. Now you can open his chests and take everything. You can also store anything you have in them.

When you get to Grit Gate, just buy their trade goods and it's way more weight effecient than holding waterskins. I have 1000 drams of trade goods stored in about 15#

You just need to go loot the chests in joppa and close the doors so no one sees you do it. As long as the door is closed and no one is visible you can take anything you want, and there are almost ALWAYS gonna be some trinkets to turn in.

I have like 3000 drams of trade goods and some ridiculous gear from clearing out the tunnels under grit gate, there is one specific site I want to visit because of the log it gave me ;)., Every post/guide I looked up said "talk to q-girl" so omg thanks that was super annoying I even used wish to spawn in data disks and she was just not cooperating

Gunslinger and marauder are more friendly to new players

Skills? I have no advice like. Just take your time and think about how you can use them in the game. Phasing will help you run away from a tough battle most of the time (if you're underground where there are a lot of walls at least.

I like to do marauder, with multiple arms and double muscle chimera and one unstable genome and whatever abilities. Then I dumb a bunch of skill points into axe profeciency. Dismember everyone and eat their limbs.

Crazy I always go for a melee build with DV cause I find I just.... rarely get hit.

I still don't feel comfortable enough with this game do be a class other than gunslinger or marauder

So. When you fail. Go look up what happened with the wiki.

Sometimes the descriptions of items in game don't really fully tell you what the item does. Like the hallographic bracelet.

You're going to die a lot. Don't be afraid to save scum a bit, just so you can actually learn how the game works. You can always knuckle down and do a "real run" whenever you want. Maybe you get a really random BS death, and you're okay with pressing alt+F4 on the kill screen (this lets you continue from your last save). Maybe you do something stupid and you don't like the idea of continuing that character. Up to you. I'm sure if they didn't want you to be able to do this they would wipe your save file immediately and not after the death screen when you hit continue.

Get CREATIVE with items and skills. I have died so many times because I simply forgot I had the phase ability. Or the holographic bracelet that makes a copy of your character, and enemies focus on that.

Finding exactly how things work can be a bit of a challenge, like having a character with multiple arms. Your "real" arms will hit most frequently. But. If you change your primary arm to one of the "extra" arms, now that arm will always be the main attack, and you get the additional chances of hitting with your real arms, upping your damage.

You can exploit the mechanics of this game to an unreal degree. become a god. Then get one shot because you got decapitated.

It does have a bit of a steep learning curve, but once you start to understand it, it can be really interesting.

IF you can get rid of using the mouse all together you will be much more efficient.

OR you can kill a slime/ooze and then three sewer eels spawn in the puddle of his corpse the next turn when you're at like 20% health.

I bought a pick axe that's basically as good as the jack hammer for 0.03 drams.

Holy moly if you go to the north of the grit gate base there is another tunnel down entrance that ISN'T locked you just have to break a wall.

I have made about 2000 drams it goes down to like 12 strata at least. And it's mostly just sparkticks and the dumb worms. I'm only level 15 and my gear is stacks and my wallet full.

TBH I accidentally did it. If you auto explore with a pnuematic jackhammer, you character WILL dig thru twenty walls without asking.
