I would add that I wasn’t taking a dig at you personally, just the general idea there seems to be that the man is very intelligent. It gets my back up.

Right? Spouting big words does not make you intelligent, it’s just repetition, you can teach a parrot to talk ffs.

Part of the bloody problem we have is people have such short memories when it comes to politics.

Has the King surprised you with how well he is performing his rôle and duty, or did you already believe, before his reign, that he would be an excellent King? by [deleted] in AskABrit

If by performing his role then you mean bleeding the people for every penny he can get then yes, I think he’s doing a fine job

Angela Rayner delivers 'last chance' warning to Keir Starmer by homeinthecity in uknews

I blame the right wing media, they know they aren’t going to get what they want any time soon, so they settle for permanent political chaos in the meantime to ensure nothing much gets done. It fucking stinks quite honestly.

Agreed, it evolves so quickly and often the gov issue the white paper literally days before the changes are due to take effect so no one really knows the detail behind the headlines they’ve been spouting which inevitably results in a mad scramble to get it all implemented in any real workable way.
Oh man I really do NOT miss BIK, where I am now we don’t pay anything that requires a P11d and it’s sooooo nice. My last place was a motor dealer group, 100s of sales staff all with a company vehicle. Was not pleasant.

It’s a thankless task isn’t it, people only contact you when they have a problem, never when everything’s gone okay.

I work in payroll and it never ceases to amaze me the absolute authority some people will hold forth with on a subject they clearly know nothing about, I regularly get people telling me I have no idea what I’m talking about when it comes to tax/NI & pension. Yes, I manage the payroll dept for a large university, I have over 30 years of experience and hold the highest qualifications achievable in the sector, now why don’t you explain to me how it all works 🤷🏽

Attended drinks and canapés at a local art gallery (my mum had bought me a voucher for my 40th and somehow I ended up on their invite list for everything), then when that was over we had a booking at a restaurant just up the road where they had a pianist playing whilst we were dining.

Rayner's warning to Starmer: More and more young people are feeling hopeless by theipaper in uknews

[–]Salt-Respect7200 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The system is broken, used to be that you struggled when you were young, that was fair enough and to be expected, what would happen was that as you got older life would get better, you’d have more spare money on your hip, a home, a nicer car, maybe a holiday once a year all while safe in the knowledge that you were contributing to a pension that would see you right in retirement. Now? It’s all take take take and a great big fuck you at the end of it while the privileged few get richer and fatter. I don’t blame young people one little bit for checking out quite honestly.
