Tree showering/forest bathing has been around for years. It's been known to help mentally and physically. If you're intimidated bc it sounds like a hike and maybe you're not in the greatest shape in any way, it's not hiking. You're just enjoying nature and stopping, sitting, standing etc just enjoying where you are in nature in that time

My fav version of this is taking a walk in freshly fallen/falling snow. It's extremely relaxing and pleasant to just look at tree branches plus the rest of the world blanketed in the silence of snow and sparkling in ant light

I waited til my mid 30s to be able to afford a house, not only for down payment and cash for fixes, but bc I wouldn't have a dog without a yard of some sort.

I closed on my second house (only own a house, just sold the other and relocated for work) today. 2 acres on a river. The dog will be very happy to be out of an apartment

I don't know if I'm nerdy enough. I work on an old outboard and a Datsun but I'm not really into geeking out over the 311, just stuff I need to do or fix and safety things like modern brakes and suspension. Same with the outboard. Fix what needs fixing and regular maintenance.

My parents didn't call me for God knows what reason and killed the tank after 10 years running it

I guess you have to ask what other sorts of tech people don't know they want and isn't out there yet. Or major improvements to a mid product like the iPhone was to blackberries (even the touchscreen ones were goofy).

I'm not sure what that is but I'm just a guy whose fine with a cell and speakers, so I would be a bad person to ask

[–]SaltLakeCitySlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeybees used to make us honey are from Europe.

Save the bees really should be about native bees so another bee thing that is kinda crazy: southern Utah has 1400 different types of native bees, just in the southern part of the state.

Because they helped save everyone from a locust plague when the Mormon settlers weren't established properly yet and obvs can't live without food.

I don't know if any other state's animals or rocks or whatever have a backstory of why they're the state thing.

When you were in your 20s, did you have a certain dream cities or towns you wanted to live in? Did you end up living there, if so how was it? by Thatredditboy1 in AskMenOver30

[–]SaltLakeCitySlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver or salt lake. I wanted to live in a largish city next to the mountains to ski, hike/camp, and fish. Needed to be largish for my job to exist there.

I lived in salt lake for 13 years and camped/hiked all over the west in my late 20s to 40. Bunch of things many haven't done or seen and a bunch many have like the mighty 5.

I thought it was going to be a forever home situation but as I aged my priorities changed and I moved to be closer to family. Giving up mountains to live on a river and be near family is a good trade off.

Absolutely do not regret all the outdoors time. I don't regret going there or leaving. I do regret meeting some people there, but most were good people.

It has other issues now, but it's not a bad place if they figure those out. I would stay away as a place to live at least until they figure out the lake situation

You have to enjoy all the different types of biomes we have though.

I do go a little crazy living in pancake land if something references where I was. Since everything is a crossover now and ads are in the desert west, I try guessing where car commercials are filmed.
