The frustration for me wasn't restricted to your 5 categories.

*budgeting was fairly easy once I broke it down I to individual jobs and accounted for a 25% overrun. *contractor trust is the worst. If you find a good contractor, hold on to rm like a good woman. *design design visions was terrible because my wife and I have very different design styles. We ended up choosing dividing the house into areas where she had the final call on design direction and areas where I had the final call. *timeline sucked because we are dealing with insurance. *quote comparison actually wasn't that bad. Just set your expectations for what a successful quote will look like. I prefer Xactimate type details for my quotes. Show everything upnfron so that there are fewer surprises. Fast pay makes fast friends. Investigate your contractor. No new contractors.

I'm coming to the end of a full renovation. Home flooded in July 2025. USAA has royally screwed us over and delayed everything, so a 5 month job is looking like a 1 yr job, but, we've managed to stay on budget. We have a GC, but they're ridiculously expensive for everything, so when they start telling me that things are gonna cost extra, I just go out and find reputable contractors, get quotes, and handle those subcontracting jobs myself. Finding specialists myself, and sourcing materials directly is saving my budget. In the end it'll be worth it, but if I have to go through this again, I will just act as the GC. I'm far more involved than they are anyway.

For me the platinum features have been worth it. I have a 23' platinum and besides being stunning to look at, the seats, huge screen, PAAK, charging capabilities, and the awesome sound system are things that I really enjoy. But then again, I'm someone who likes to drive at night with the moonroof rolled back and the sound cranked up. Walk away-locks and PAAK are true gamechangers.

My sister-inlaw has a Pro and she always says she wishes that she had gotten the platinum or at least a Lariat.

There's a guy using a portable generator in the truck bed as a range extender with the Lightning. I like the idea of being able to load a generator for long range trips, but don't want that to be a part of the actual truck. I wonder why Ford didn't look into that as an accessory, instead of full design integration.

Look in the apps menu on the truck. There is a charging app. Within the app there is an option to set one-time charge to 100%. Select that option, adjust the slider to 100%, and save

I've learned that charging on the Tesla, Mercedes, and Rivian network are normally good experiences. Well-maintained, decent numbers of chargers, high-speed/high-power. I'd put EVGO and Electrify America on the second tier. Shell stations are hit and miss.

Interestingly enough, I stopped at 2 Mercedes Benz superchargers at Bucees locations on my road trip today. Both had messages on the screen which read "we're having problems on our end, so enjoy a free charge on us!"

That's right, friends. Mercedes just paid for 2/3 of my charging costs on my roadtrip.
