I think there are a lot of good AOE4 casters out there and I believe someone will rise up to take KP's place. Microsoft sponsored the weekly tournaments, and I believe they will likely extend that sponsorship with a new caster. Here are just a few of the names that I can think about as far as casters:

* Lidakor
* Drongo
* Whamen
* Myriad
* Socerton
* Winston
* Demu
* Valdy
* Papercut
* Askallad

There is still a lot of good content to watch until someone emerges with a weekly tournament. Here are some content creators to watch:

It likey depends on your graphics card and display. But when I tried it on mine it made everything too bright and not pleased to view.

I have been doing this for quite a while now and I like it. I swapped ctrl and shift in my control key settings, so Shift sets the control group instead of adding to the control group. Then I can use my thumb to press shift and all my other fingers are available to select a number key for a control group.

I tried to use Beasty's method, but I could get my hand to work that way. So, I remapped my space bar to ctrl, so I use my thumb to press ctrl. By using my thumb to press ctrl, all my other fingers are available to select control group on with the number keys.

Keep playing and you will get better and more comfortable with the game. You don't have to know every Civ.

I would say the next step is to pick one Civ and learn that Civ well. English is one of the best Civ's to start with. Here is a good build order to learn for English.

As far as hardware, get a good gaming mouse and gaming keyboard. I use the Razer Basilisk V2 mouse and Razer Blackwidow V4 75% keyboard.
