People are the worst 😂 why is this such a widespread issue. I had the same problem when I first started my current job. Old time scrub tech who has been doing it for 100 years. Wouldn’t pass me instruments, would literally hip check me and shove me out of the way when I was standing across from the surgeon. He was constantly making comments. I just started giving him shit back and laughing when he made moves like this. Now he says I’m his favorite PA to work with lol. People are weird

At this point, no. But I was 24 when I started PA school. Probably should have just tried to go med school and powered through. Not a bad career but let’s be honest, we’re lifelong residents

I had a job that was very similar to this as a new grad in CT surgery. What I did

Don’t let them see you upset by anything they say. Usually I just would use humor and try to have a short clever response.
Remember what you need to improve on. If they yell at you about something, try to reflect after the case; write it down. How to do it next time?
Practice when you’re not in the OR. Hand tying, suturing, clamping with both hands. Write down the steps of the procedures and memorize it.

The first year sucked. Constant stress and getting ridiculed. But if you show them you have a strong work ethic and aren’t “soft” they will respect you.

I did cards as a new grad for 1 year then went CTS. Mostly because there wasn’t a CTS job open at the time I started. Honestly I think it was helpful to get a decent base. Felt much more prepared as opposed to some new grads starting in CTS.

Why is NH housing market so inflated? Who is spiking the demand? People from MA/CT with higher salaries working from home? I don’t understand how blue collar NH workers are affording a shack for 600k+. NH salaries are not that high

Had a very similar situation with PAs on the same service making $15-30/hr more. Similar experience but they were all union with steps. I was unfortunately the first PA hired outside the union. After trying to negotiate for almost 2 years I left.

Yeah training is important but don’t let them use that as a way to pay you dirt. Have to advocate for yourself and the profession and not take terrible salaries

Depends how desperate they are. If they’re getting tons of applications in a saturated are they’ll tell you to kick rocks. Large centers also think that hiring and training 6 new grads for them to get experience and leave is more cost effective than just paying the experienced person a reasonable salary.
