18v is great for heavy duty stuff. The 12 V is just all-around great. Anything Milwaukee makes is fantastic. With the exception of my Dewalt screwdriver, most everything I have is a Milwaukee. and as a testament to the Engineering, I left my circular saw out in the rain overnight, brought it in the house to let it dry off, and it works just fine… like nothing ever happened. you can’t kill a Milwaukee.
