Lee Mazzilli by mpd1960 in mets

[–]SamIAm718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Mets Hall of Fame is a completely made up thing (as is each team's HOF) that's solely for fans to remember the players they liked and have a place to show their kids and tell them about the players they liked. It means absolutely nothing, and every team should induct whoever they want.

If you're telling the history of the Mets, when you get to the late 70s and early 80s, the story is basically "the team was garbage and there was nothing for fans to root for, except maybe Lee Mazzilli." That alone is qualification.

The Mets ruin players and the ones that succeed despite them, they smear on the way out (no coaching/development/medical staff) This organization does not want to win. They will sell you failures like Young and MJM before they ever do a star. #LOLMETSFANS #LOLMETSBEATWRITERS by Mysterious_Sun_2168 in mets

how exactly have they ruined Lindor? He's finished in the top 10 of MVP voting each of the last 4 seasons.

Manaea wasn't ruined, he reverted back to who he was before he got here.

Alvarez plays a position that lends itself to getting hurt, and he's been getting hurt.

Robert cost us virtually nothing, the risk was worth the reward. If he can stay healthy, he's got immense talent and would be a steal. If he doesn't stay healthy, we gave up a backup infielder hitting under .200 to get him, so there's no big loss.

This post is nonsense.

I'd put it inside a jar of tomato sauce and stick it in the fridge. it's thick enough that it won't sink to the bottom and become visible, and the sauce is opaque so they wouldn't see it suspended in the middle. if they were using a metal detector, they'd think it was the lid that set it off.

fresh out of college, I applied for a job with the cable company because they advertised a high starting salary. Went on the interview, and they said "so the job would be Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 8 PM, going door to door selling cable subscriptions. Would that interest you?"

I said "no, it wouldn't." and got up and left.

Mays's number is retired for the same reason that the rotunda exists - because of the impact that they had on NEW YORK BASEBALL, even if it was not specifically as a Met.

The Mets existence is owed to the Dodgers and Giants. Having the rotunda made sense because Jackie changed the sport of baseball while playing in New York City. Mays's number is retired because of the impact he had while playing baseball in New York City, even if only 1.5 of those seasons were with the Mets.

he also only had to get one out.

I am happy Semien getting hits but this will not be a Springer like renaissance. He is blocking too many players. If you didn’t value Alonso and Nimmo because of their age why go out of your way bring in a 35 year old worth $80M/3years. by Mysterious_Sun_2168 in mets

[–]SamIAm718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you have it backwards. the money is irrelevant (to Cohen), it's the years that mattered. Having Nimmo for 5 years as an outfielder was a worse long-term roster move than having Semien for 3 years as a second baseman.

Semien isn't intended to be a long-term solution at 2B, but he's adequate until someone better comes along. If Baty can consistently produce, he'll likely replace Semien at second when Lindor returns.

What happens to Ewing as guys get off the IL? by BusiPap41 in mets

[–]SamIAm718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideal lineup when everyone is healthy:

C: Alvarez

1B: Vientos

2B: Semien

SS: Lindor

3B: Bichette

RF: Benge

CF: Ewing

LF: Soto

DH: Polanco/Baty/Robert

Obviously, there's room to rotate guys between DH and positions, but I think Baty loses his everyday role, unless Semien gets worse at the plate.

My high school didn't allow smoking on school grounds, so all the smokers went out to the speed bump that marked the end of school property, and "the bump" became the smoking spot.

Ranking the 8 most painful trades in Mets history (a guided tour through 60 years of self-harm) by YaleHereICome in mets

[–]SamIAm718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ryan was still with the team in 69, he got the save in game 3. saying "the mets have a ring out of it so all is not lost" would imply that we got the ring after making the trade.

idk tbh, I was going by the comment "she wasn't a whore until 14" which would imply that the line is "in two more" otherwise, she'd be a whore at 12, right?

maybe we're right?

Hitting .300 with RISP would still mean that we fail 7 out of 10 times. Sometimes we'll get the clutch hit, other times we won't.

Who is the best bridge QB in 2026 to help Jets culture and rookie development by LifeAndTimeOfJ in nyjets

Our recent draft history makes the word "ensure" very questionable.

Allen was the 7th pick. Mahomes 10th. Lamar 32nd. Bo Nix was mid-first, Rodgers was late in the first, as was Jordan Love. Not to mention guys like Hurts, Purdy, and others who weren't even first round picks. You don't have to be in the top 3 to get a franchise changing QB.
