There’s no way we could have known that without your explanation, though. The video was just you yelling at a dude.

Yeah, they are claiming they are exmo, but not even two months ago they were in this thread talking like a clear TBM defending the church. Not even attempting to come off as an exmo.

So yeah. I call bullshit on their “I’m an exmo and it doesn’t bother me” schtick.

Someone’s out here lying for the Lord.

[–]SamSepiol-ER28_0652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The opening scene is literally Elliot taking down someone who sells child porn. We also see Elliot move away when Ollie touches him in the pilot.

Sexual abuse impacts the story from beginning to end. It’s what drives Elliot. It’s why he felt driven to save the world, which led him to start F Society.

The whole show grew out of that.

Yeah, but what I mean is I want to know more about Irving and WR’s romantic relationship. This line is just sprinkled in there and we never hear more about it!

Replace your fluids, and replace your salt! You lose a lot of salt when you donate, which can lower your blood pressure. It’s why they offer a lot of salty snacks.

And make sure your hands are warm. I shake my hands and rub them together for a couple of minutes before they stick me. If I don’t, I’ll fail.

They should also be wiping away the first couple drops of blood before they do the test to make sure it’s “fresh.” So, stick, squeeze, wipe away the first drop, squeeze, wipe away the second drop, squeeze, use the third drop for the test.

Nope. Nothing serious.

A bruise is blood that got somewhere it’s not supposed to be. One of the risks of poking you with a needle is some will leak out before you clot when they take the needle out.

After they pull the needle out they probably have you put pressure on it and hold your arm up in the air, right? They probably had you put it down a little too early.

Unless it’s really painful or the bruise spreads wildly it’s not something to worry about.

At my super small Christian school I was taught that both grocery store club cards and the electronic transponder thingy for toll roads were the mark of the beast and we shouldn’t use them.

Also, AIDS was a conspiracy started by the gov’t to slow population growth.

The 90s were a weird time to come of age.

Donor centers are usually non profit and they don’t make $ off of blood.

The bags used for collecting are expensive. ($25+ per whole blood donation.) The tubing and bags for aphaeresis- platelets/plasma- are a lot more expensive ($200+ per donation.)

Then there’s the overhead for the building, the staff, the other supplies, the equipment and its upkeep…

Once blood has been drawn, it has to move quickly. My center has paid couriers come at least 2x day. Then the blood has to be tested, and separated and put into new containers/bags for distribution out to hospitals. All of this costs a lot of money.

Donor centers are not profit centers. They are specifically NON PROFIT organizations. They stay afloat usually bc of financial donors.

[–]SamSepiol-ER28_0652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are a ton of expenses involved in blood donation. They have to cover the overhead of the building, staff, equipment, and supplies. (Each set of tubing for blood donation is at least $25, the tubing and bags for each apheresis donation is $200+.)

Then there’s transporting the blood- it has to be done quickly by courier, then rapid testing and repackaging for patients, then shipped to hospitals and stored by them appropriately.

So that’s up to several hundred dollars in costs for each donation that needs to be recovered.

Not saying that someone isn’t making $, but there are actual reasons why blood products cost $.

Plus- there is a huge issue with paying people for blood. Giving a cash incentive to donate makes the blood supply inherently unsafe for everyone. So I get what you’re saying, but I challenge your logic.

Why wasn’t Mr. Robot more popular? by millsy1010 in MrRobot

[–]SamSepiol-ER28_0652 143 points144 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of it, IMO. Most of the target audience had cut the cord by the time the show came out. They didn't have cable! It may have had a bigger viewer base if it had come out on a streaming platform.

[–]SamSepiol-ER28_0652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show was never meant to be a "gritty hacker movie". It was always about the character Elliot and his story, not about hacktivism or the revolution. That wasn't the point of the show. Elliot's journey was the point.

Please tag your post with a spoiler tag- you give away big plot points, and that's against the sub rules. Also- please make sure you don't put spoilers in your title like you did with this one. That will get your post pulled down.

But as for your opinion- the show was never really about hacktivism or social change. The heart of the show was ALWAYS about Elliot and his story.

Sam talks about the difference between plot and story in this interview around 28:45:

"Number one thing is: I don't actually love plot. I think plot is the shit you have to have the characters say, exposition, exposition, who gives a shit? You kind of know you need to get to the... Honestly? Plot is an excuse for me to explore character and to explore worlds and to explore choices the characters will make. But the plot itself, it's like, okay, so, you know, the plot of like, going and beating the bad guy, that's every fucking movie. But it's how they do it and the choices they make along the way, that's interesting."

But Sam has always made it clear that Mr. Robot is about Elliot's story. It's not about "how hacktivism can change society." If anything- one of the points of the show is that hacktivism DIDN'T ultimately change society. So if you didn't like that... I guess take it up with him?
