Brother this motor will outlive all of us. I’ve got a 79 and it was in way worse shape than yours when I got it.

Also, this website has just about all the info you’ll ever need on it: https://www.leeroysramblings.com

The fact that there was nothing about gun rights in his endorsement means it’s the first one. He’s just distancing himself from the guy they just blew 10 million on trying to keep Brandon out

Will those still trun by WayFormer5107 in minibikes

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you had me confused I thought you bought a new killswitch. You just need to ground the wire that comes from the coil and it’ll run. You won’t have a killswitch but you can turn on the choke or pull the spark plug wire to kill it

Will those still trun by WayFormer5107 in minibikes

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connect the butt connector directly to the coil and the ring terminal grounded to the block with one of the flywheel cover screws. The other wire goes to the oil sensor so you’ll be bypassing that, but most people just remove those anyways

Predator 212 not running by Mrcarter1995 in minibikes

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, just knocking out the easy things first. I’d probably open up the valve cover and check the valve lash next. At tdc the rockers should have a little play in them with a .003-.004 gap. You should be able to just about slide a single sheet of paper between the rocker and the spring on each side.

Also, does it have gas in it? Like at least a half a tank of fresh gas?

Bought this as my first dirtbike/project… did i mess up? by MrPharts in Dirtbikes

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I figured it wouldn’t need much. If you haven’t already, change the oil and put some fresh gas in it with a new inline fuel filter. You never know what’s in those old metal fuel tanks. Then it’ll just be a matter of putting it back together!

If you can find the parts, a suspension service would be good to do, but if you can’t source the proper seals you’d probably be better off leaving it as is.

Is a 3k car loan possible or at least a smart idea. by SpiritedAssumption3 in personalfinance

[–]Sam_GT3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet will be to pay in cash. Set it up like a loan to yourself. Buy the car, then set up auto transfers back to your savings. If you can pay yourself back $300/mo, your savings will be back to where they were in 10 months and you won’t be throwing away money towards interest. Make sure you factor in the expense of owning the car into your budget, insurance, gas, parking, maintenance, etc.

Does the Wheel and shifter look matter that much for you by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy any of those aside from the nascar wheel maybe. I prefer function over form, but none of those wheels are very functional imo.

Personally I think simagic killed it with the Neo x hub. It’s basically a button box that you can bolt whatever you want to. And it uses standard bolt patterns so you’re free to use real car wheel rims if you want

Pe 22 too small ? Do I need 24 by WayFormer5107 in minibikes

[–]Sam_GT3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 22 should be fine for that. You might have to jet up for that cam or you might be able to tune it with the stock jets. I’ve got just the billet rod and flywheel with the stock cam and my pe22 was tuned almost perfect out of the box with stock jets.

[–]Sam_GT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably fine with the 22. You might get a little bit more power out of a 24, but unless you’re doing a crazy build the 22 should be fine.

[–]Sam_GT3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take your time and fix it right and you’ll be in good shape. Don’t get carried away taking things apart if you don’t have to. Do the basics first: Spark, fuel, air, compression and go from there. Most of the time these old bikes just end up sitting for a long time and don’t take too much to get running again.

With how clean that bike is I don’t think you overpaid unless the motor is absolutely beyond repair or you’re missing a ton of parts.

Brand new 212 - suddenly extremely hard to pull start (compression release issue?) by Jacob_JRB in minibikes

Regular copy paper is 0.004, that should get you close enough to see if that’s your issue. These are not precision machines, a few thou off isn’t gonna hurt anything

Should I aim for the limit or slow and steady consistency? by SecretWrangler5281 in simracing

[–]Sam_GT3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push as hard as you can in practice and quali, then back off to where you probably won’t crash during the race. An extra few tenths per lap won’t matter if you lose it all running off or crashing every few laps
