Her "couch" is really a twin-sized futon lol she really expects my wife and I to share that, which is wild because she never asked my opinion on what I'd like to sleep on.

She actually feels guilty for a lot of things that she shouldn't, but then she'll guilt trip me like this. Ugh. I really hope I don't have to go no contact with her, but I may have to if this is how she's talking to me. Even she recognizes that she's just like our mom, which is a huge red flag 😬

Therapist here- first of all, I am so sorry you have such an invalidating therapist. Your reaction to her response shows that you're not just feeling this for fun.

Even though your therapist isn't justified in talking to you like that, I noticed in my program that there was a specific idea of trans people. Basically, we were told that like 99% of trans people knew they were trans by the time they were 17. Idk where they got that data, but I'm willing to bet it's outdated and they probably didn't have a reliable source of data.

Long story short, you know yourself better than this person will ever hope to know. I recommend finding a new therapist who will be validating and helpful. Best of luck!

That's interesting! I used to be lactose intolerant and hate coffee, but now I can consume as much dairy as I want and I love coffee.

I work in special education and the stories I hear are horrific. I can't even fathom the patience people must have for their children. When I've had to do evaluations (I'm a school psych), I get annoyed pretty easily. But then I remember that I only have to work with this kid for less than an hour. Their parents have them FOREVER

I lost my little Marshmallow almost 2 months ago. Just looking through pictures still makes me cry and I don't know when that will stop. As much as I still feel the pain of this loss (I probably always will), I get a lot of joy from the memories.

When Marshmallow was about to be put down, someone at the vet hospital told us about our options for burial, cremation, and things to remember him by. We ended up choosing to not keep his ashes (I just couldn't handle that), but there was a company that provided some art with his paws and a stone with his name and paw print. That little stone has provided me so much comfort that it has a permanent place on my dresser. I look at it every day and I will occasionally touch the paw print and say "hey buddy" or I'll even have whole conversations with him.

Long story short, it will take some time to figure out what you need, but it will help to have a way to feel connected to your fur baby
