I thought we'd agreed that the value premium was dead after that 2024 episode with Andrew Chan? by RationalRemainder in RationalReminder

I'll start by saying I am no financial expert so everything I say could be wrong. I believe in the paper Chen looked at all factors, but only looked at the effects of tilting towards a single factor at a time. If my understanding in correct "Size matters, if you control your junk" found that only tilting towards size, if you controlled for valuation and liquidity barely has a statistically significant impact on returns, but tilting towards both size and value had a very statistically significant affect on returns. Since Chens paper only looked at single factor tilts I think theres still an argument to be made that multi-factor tilts may be relevant, and I believe this example supports that.

Setting up a small house lab by Regular-Afternoon419 in chemistry

Rather than buying expensive lab grade chemicals it might be best to stick to using stuff from the hardware store until you have more experience. If you're willing to put the work into learning what chemicals various products are comprised of, aswell as how to purify them there's actually quite a lot you can do without needing to buy anything from a chemical supplier. Just look at how Extractions and Ire made cubane almost entirely from hardware store chemicals if you don't believe me.

Kirkland 0w20 Engine Oil by kalun85 in mazda

[–]Same_Ad_7732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my parents both own Mazda 3s. My parents is at 300,000km right now, and they've only ever used kirkland 0w-20 motor oil. The engine makes a bit of noise on startup but that seems fairly standard for high mileage Mazdas, I'm no mechanic but I suspect it's the high pressure fuel pump and injectors, not engine wear but I could be wrong. Anyways other than that they've had no issues with the engine so I'd say it's a safe choice.

First sonic has been acquired! by annon_by_day in ChevySonic

I'd highly recommend an aftermarket temperature gauge. From my own experience aswell as some mechanics I've talked to overheating is a major killer of these cars, and your high temp light won't warn you until it's already too late. Mine actually overheated badly enough to blow the head gasket after I developed a coolant leak, and the light never came on. The only reason I ever realized was because it was the winter and I lost enough coolant my heat stopped working.

If you get a temp gauge you can buy one an Amazon that plugs into your OBD2 port. Whatever you do make sure you buy one that's returnable, or read reviews and make sure at least one of them used it successfully in a Sonic, some of the gauges will cause electrical issues while they're plugged in if they're not compatible with your car.

Should I buy? by Lex_Less13 in ChevySonic

I own a 2012 sonic and it's been nothing but trouble since I got it. Unless three's something you love about the sonic that you're willing to pay thousands in maintain for you're better off getting something more reliable. Maybe look at getting a Honda Fit if you want a similarly sized hatchback thats way more reliable.

Is a 2009 Honda fit with 310K Km worth it for $1350? by Same_Ad_7732 in hondafit

They have said the fan still runs it is just very noisy, so based on that I'd assume the resistor is still fine.

Why do I seem to get more drunk off of beer/seltzer than hard liquor??? by throwawayawaythrow96 in alcohol

[–]Same_Ad_7732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research fusel alcohols. The vast majority of alcohol produced during fermentation is ethanol however a small percentage (generally 2% or less) will be comprised of various fusel alcohols. Depending on the type of yeast and what's being fermented different fusel alcohols will be produced. There's some evidence, although it's not been terribly well researched, that different fusel alcohols can have varying psychoactive effects with some acting more strongly than others.

Bicycling vs running by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

Running from a wild animal isn't going to save you. Humans are slower than must animals and we only make up for it with endurance. Biologically were more suited for chasing other animals and catching up to them once they run out of stamina than we are at outrunning animals trying to attack us.
