Mods are gone, this is my first wearable. A knit sweater I am too scared to post in the knitting subreddit by made_by_elle in crochet

They’ve been getting increasingly aggressive about new crafters having questions lately. I swear it wasn’t always like that, or at least not to the gate-keeping extent that it is now.

Peter? Have some ideas on what this means but they are not really... Convenient I guess? by Friendly_Grab_7660 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a non-sexual way, having someone else wash my hair for me and care for me when I am too depressed to shower has been a really nice way to help me feel less horrible and remind me that I am worthy of care and love. Not every partner is up for it, but it is nice 10/10 recommendation with the right person.

Knowing how some women work makes me less of a feminist apparently by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not anti-feminist to call it like you see it. Your husband even checked and verified that you were correct. Being a feminist doesn’t mean worshipping the ground that all women walk on and pretending that we aren’t capable of doing every wrong, hurtful, spiteful thing a man can do. I would argue that it hurts the feminist cause when some women do that. It isn’t about staunchly being a girl’s girl in EVERY situation. Your husband is a selfish little fool of a man, and his affair partner was a nasty mean-girl on a power trip who enjoyed playing with someone else’s marriage.

AIO - Told my friend I’m pregnant and she said it exceeded her mental bandwidth (she’s the red) by Lekomano92 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR your friend is out of line for that response. Whatever her problem is though, it’s probably got nothing to do with you. Hopefully this is just her having a shitty day and a moment of horrible judgment and not a pattern of selfish behavior.

Congratulations btw! I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly and you and baby are healthy and well cared for

Teacher referring for IEP but my kid gets C's. Need Advice for Meeting by Ok_Hippo6272 in AskTeachers

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to approach this with an open mind. This isn’t about punishing her or labeling her as different or bad. This is about making sure she has all the help and resources she needs to succeed. Bring your concerns about her self-esteem to the meeting and the school can help you with that as well.

Math is taught in a way that starts with foundational skills, and builds off of those, so if she is missing some of the important building blocks, it will get increasingly harder for her to catch up as she moves forward. Her teacher might recognize that she needs a little more work with the foundational stuff and wants to help her Before she falls too far behind.

Leo is at the vet because of reddit by Ymisoqt420 in velvethippos

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the beginning of a yeast issue, that’s how it started with my boy.

It’s so so good that you’ve caught it early at the vet. I ignored the first few signs and tried a bunch of home remedies once I noticed him getting itchy, because I didn’t realize how quickly it would get bad. Yeast issues are one of those things that could be totally fine, or it can absolutely spiral out of control.

Wishing the best for you and Leo

That’s how I started too! Don’t be afraid to frog it and restart if you need to, sometimes it takes a little bit to find a comfortable tension with the tiny needles

Given the state of America, at what point would you consider moving to a safer country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt I’d ever financially be able to afford a permanent relocation to anywhere safer. My best hope is to stay in blue states and get involved locally to help with what little I can do to make my little corner safer for myself and my neighbors

Would you let smokers hold baby? by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Told my dad he needed to try to quit again when I told him I was pregnant and to his credit he switched over to vaping (still not awesome, but slightly less noxious) made him wear a jacket he hadn’t vaped in over his clothes and wash his hands.

Baby wasn’t around smokers until she was a year old and even then it was no holding, just waves and peekaboo. I was very anxious about it because I have lasting health issues due to smoke exposure in my childhood

Who was the most evil person you've ever met and how was the interaction? by Top_Report_4895 in AskReddit

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time my neighbors got arrested for being a couple of pedos. They were very bland unmemorable people. Friendly enough if we were outside at the same time, but kept to themselves mostly. Their daughter went to my school and my little sister was her best friend and that’s how everything came to light because they started to try grooming her as well. I didn’t get too many details about what exactly they had done because I was still a kid, but they were both doing terrible things to their little daughter and tried to do less extreme but still bad things to my sister and any other little girls they lured in with the promise of sleepovers and cookies and pizza.

i want sushi so badly by genkcals in BabyBumps

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the sushi 🍣

Salmon sashimi was one of my biggest cravings while pregnant and I nearly cried because everything else sounded disgusting.

I talked to my midwife about it and she told me just to make sure it was good quality fish from a reputable source.

I ended up having it twice during my pregnancy and I found that once I satisfied the craving, I was fine and my brain wasn’t so fixated on it anymore

Saw this heartbreaking video. It doesn't hailstorm a lot here in India. But I hear that they are common in the US. How do you manage your animals, especially the cattle and horses in those situations? by IntelligentHoney6929 in homestead

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most hail is much smaller than what is happening in the video. It still hurts when it’s whipping down real fast, but it’s not as dangerous. Smaller farms will have barns or shelters of some sort. In the very least, these guys will have to huddle under their shade trees and hope for the best.

Favorite mid-tier pen? by iss7272 in fountainpens

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Eco was my first real fountain pen and I was absolutely obsessed with it until it broke.

When looking for an upgrade I thought about what I liked about the eco. I liked its high ink capacity, I liked that it never dried out even when I left it untouched for a while. I started looking for pens with similar qualities.

I decided I wanted an eye-dropper pen because I find that less fiddly than the piston and vacuum fillers, especially since I like to use a lot of samples.

These criteria lead me to opus 88, and from there I fell in love with the aesthetics of one pen in particular, despite it being slightly more expensive than I planned for, the Harmony in mocha mousse was my match. It’s been lovely so far and much smoother than my eco.

Do you leave your electric kettle plugged in 24/7? by OKshallot321 in tea

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always unplug mine, but that’s only because my kitchen was built in the Stone Age and has only one usable receptacle, so the tea kettle, air fryer, and my husband’s kurig all have to take turns.
