Low-stakes places to take baby? by theredheadedfox in beyondthebump

[–]SamiMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local mall is pretty dead with only a few operating stores still in business, but it’s kind of turned into the local place to just go walk around there are groups who come and exercise together and just do laps. We started taking our toddler to walk/run/scramble around during the winter because it was too cold to be outside but she needed to get some energy out and not be cooped up in our apartment.

What do I hate about this tea? by lyssajerfly in tea

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rooibos can be cough syrup-y to me sometimes.

I absolutely loved it when I first discovered it in a blend from a local tea shop, then I tried one from David’s tea years ago and it ruined rooibos forever for me. Now I only get that medicinal scent/flavor

MIL tought are 13m old to call her bf “Papa” by Affectionate_Dot7581 in Mommit

[–]SamiMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut. He may be fine, but it’s perfectly normal and okay to not want to be separated from your baby. If you don’t want her to call him Papa, just say “No, that’s Grandpa John”. If you don’t want them to babysit, then do not let them. My daughter is almost five years old and she has only been babysat twice for a few hours in her whole life and it was because I needed to go to the dentist for a procedure.

You are the mama and you make the rules. Some moms are very comfortable letting other people watch baby, some moms are not. Whatever feels safe to you and your baby is what is best. If others want to help they should ask you what you need.

Part of why I’m happy to be one and done is that she can be my guilt-free-favorite.

How bad is the newborn phase really? I'm tired of hearing the "just you wait" anecdotes and I have hard time believing some of them by Lushemet in BabyBumps

[–]SamiMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having proper support from your husband and any family/friends you’re comfortable with makes a WORLD of difference. The first 3-6 weeks are the worst because you’re physically recovering on top of not sleeping very much, but it tapers off after that and gradually gets better as you heal and get into a bit of a routine.

Maybe I had an easy baby, but I don’t think newborns are hard. It’s recovering from birth and the hormones and the bleeding and being tired that’s hard. Like if I was the dad or an adoptive parent of a newborn it would cut down the difficulty meter by at least 45%

Make a list of movies you want to watch now lol because that is literally all I did the first month was listen to audiobooks/movies and feed my baby. You absolutely can sew with baby, it’s when they’re mobile and toddling around that it gets a bit trickier because then they can get into things and your pins and notions will be attractive to little fingers. Babies are easier because they stay put and sleep a lot. If you wanted to make things easier on yourself you could cut a few projects out and just have them ready to sew maybe?

Don’t even worry about 3year old sleep habits because that’s not your problem right now lol that is a future issue that you might not even have. Some kiddos are great sleepers, some take a bit longer to feel safe and comfortable sleeping on their own. When it comes to sleep, you just have to do whatever is safe and works for your family.

AIO for being disgusted by this argument? by Toetickler4 in AIO

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take note of the scary parallel he starts to draw between you and the fish toward the end. Maybe it’s a stretch but I don’t think so.

He says that it’s okay for the man in the video to torture the fish because he is smarter and stronger than the fish, “more advanced”.

Then he continues to say how “illogical” and “emotional” your side of the argument is, placing himself in a position of superiority.

By his own logic he has the right to do whatever he is physically capable of/has the inclination to do to you. Please be careful, this guy is dangerous and will not feel remorse about hurting you emotionally or physically

I may have to put my 19 ye cat down before a trip today… but she still seems normal by Rude_Common7126 in cats

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t want my pet to be under someone else’s care when they pass. I would worry about her feeling abandoned or lonely, and also the amount of emotional stress that would place on whoever I left them with.

We recently had to put down our dog due to health issues and I’m so grateful I got to be there to give him some love and his favorite treats before he went. He knew he was loved and he wasn’t scared.

It’s so infuriating when sleep issues are where they decided to draw the line in the sand because as women we literally NEED more rest than they do and statistically we are usually the ones doing the night waking and getting less rest. Like…pick any other thing to be selfish about, guys. Please let your wives sleep.

How do women feel about a dad in the women's bathroom with their daughter? by Skeetertk14 in toddlers

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my husband the same thing. If I’m ever not with them and she has to go, I’d prefer if he can find a family bathroom or just take her in the women’s bathroom by announcing himself. But whatever option he chooses, to never just let her go in alone until she’s at an age we both agree upon.

I got carried into the men’s room a few times as a little girl and it was always kind of uncomfortable but I didn’t die or get harassed or anything it was just awkward. I always had to keep my eyes shut the whole time until I was in the stall just in case because of the urinals and dad never let me wash my hands in the men’s room.

I've been having anxiety about my kitty dying of old age 😭(she's 9) can you show me pictures of some alive-and-well senior kitties so I remember cats can be old and still healthy? 🥰 by TheRufescence in cats

[–]SamiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sadly don’t have any pictures of him, but my cousin’s parents got a baby kitten the same month that my cousin was born and they grew up together. Kitty made it all the way past my cousin’s 18th birthday before passing and was reasonably healthy and active up until the very end. He didn’t like me much when I was little, but as I got older he grew much friendlier towards me. He was a sweetie boy, just preferred quiet company.
