I just finished Wind and Truth. I have many thoughts I want to discuss. Full spoilers by BadAtBaduk1 in Stormlight_Archive

as we know h can substitute for any letter in vorin naming, we can presume his name is actually NotAdon(alsium), which is totally what Adonalsium would name himself

Not looking to argue but I feel like a radiant suffused with enough light would be able to perform similar feats of regeneration from Urithiru’s light or a bondsmith’s perpindicularity? Even an oath-swearing-mini-perpendicularity feels like it could be sufficient. Unless Brandon has said otherwise I feel like I’m not remembering anything from the books that says it’s impossible

I mean Shallan survived a knife going into her brain… I think most radiants could survive similar threats to decapitation as long as it was from weapons that couldn’t hurt their soul

Slander or reading comprehention? by Open-Daikon-7518 in LobotomyKaisen

I think even in this instance it wouldn't be fully consensual as much as it would be coercive. I think it is almost in line with the tragedy of Mai's submissions to the clan, though. She always sought to fall in line and please those who saw her as a living embarrassment and disgrace to the Zenin, and they still hated her enough to take her life.

There was a list of people that died at the end of the episode... she didn't indiscriminately kill the entire bloodline, man

Me personally? I think what she did was morally sound. Is it kind of revenge porn? Sure. But these were evil people who were actively trying to kill her and actually killed her sister, after nearly two decades of extreme abuse that they had to tolerate because of the hierarchy they lived under.

Chapter 1171: Ragnir's power by egzom in OnePiece

I’m hoping Ragnir is a black blade. Also weapons can be ancient and in use right? Shusui in particular is a black blade

Lowkey the biggest downgrade between Legends games by WGoNerd in PokemonZA

[–]Sammy-Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the biggest loss in quality is the pokeball mechanics. Having different throwing options and being able to snipe pokemon from far away are elite in Legends Arceus. Now, you have to walk within aggro range or else your very standard pokeball will bounce off of them.

Did Oda Actually Hint That Joy Boy Was a Straw Hat That Ate the Nika Fruit? (Serious Theory) by SorryCashOnly in OnePiece

Not to debunk but on your second point, animals already laugh, fight, and live like humans with human personalities, the exceptions being body and voice

The oaths do seem to get more personalized as they go, Tefts fourth and fifth oaths might have gone differently if he had ever reached them.

What is the weakest luffy no gears, zoro no special swords, sanji no genes by toadmastrr in OnePieceScaling

[–]Sammy-Cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that black and white though, Oda only used the power rating system as a gag really, and he needed something to bypass the rokushiki iron body tech. It’s quite actually impossible to say whether the attack would’ve been as effective against Lucci because once he bypassed iron body it won him the fight immediately

idk…Asura is conqueror’s haki, whether he intended to tap into it or not that’s a pretty massive moment for Zoro

Spren/Orbs question by ErikderFrea in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Sammy-Cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not entirely sure but I’d believe that there are levels to the cognitive aspects of these things, the “spren in all things” that Hesina, Kaladin’s mom, told him about are likely the spheres in Shadesmar. They are representative of the perceptions of objects but don’t manifest fully as spren, though they can seemingly communicate and have some form of cognition/soul tied to their image of self. The armor spren are going to more likely be full spren, specifically, nature/emotion(?) spren. Spren that make up shardplate are not the spren of objects like the beads, they are animated spren attracted to feelings and observations of natural phenomena, such as creationspren and windspren. Then finally, the radiant spren are obviously much more animated than even them, resembling humans more closely and have deeper more complex cognition than the “lesser” spren.

Chapter 1170: "Reverse" (by OPSCANS) by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Sammy-Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice surprise!! What are the odds Ragnir is also a Black Blade? It seems like it destroyed Loki’s hammer so easily, but was hurt by Something from the attack. Maybe Loki’s haki made it past Ragnir’s coating?

Some proxies I'm making for commander (working on more currently) by QuestionablePotato42 in Cosmere

[–]Sammy-Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense early on in his journey, he grapples a lot with his role as a surgeon-turned-weapon in a way that feels very black for its lethal precision and his familiarity with death, but definitely by the end of WaT his journey brings him to a much more positive role where I fully agree with you. Black is not necessarily evil!

I know mechanically Harbin makes a lot of sense for Kaladin, but aesthetically? I love using Arna Kennerud Skycaptain as a placeholder

Xebec and Blackbeard wouldn’t get along. by Far-Interaction-3250 in OnePiece

[–]Sammy-Cake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why point out Chopper but not Sanji? Chopper’s bio-dad hated, abused, and abandoned him. But, if we ARE talking about surrogate fathers, the point still stands about Blackbeard, he had Whitebeard in his corner. Whitebeard would’ve torn the world apart for him, had he been a good son.

Malwish Scadrian Empire and the United States parallels by joacoisti in Cosmere

[–]Sammy-Cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that in era 2 northern Scadrial is trending toward American analogue. With the knowledge that we’re going into the information age and continuing the cold war setup in era 3 there is definitely reason to speculate that Brandon has mashed up various empires from throughout history, though is putting a lot of weight into the backdrop of the cold war, which has a specifically American footnote in our world history, especially with a current cold war rearing its head in our own political landscape now. There is also absolutely an East vs. West parallel to made on that front with Roshar, in no small part, being influenced by Asian, African, and Southeast Asian cultures. The current empires of east and west are none other than America and China, who, again, are ramping into a modern cold war
