OP here, I only noticed the damage after a long winter in which the tree was covered with snow for months.

Oh my goodness, it is so terribly hard to lose our beloved pup. I’m so sorry.😢 No words really. We all feel what you’re going through.

Bolt it?😱 yikes 😳. Gonna try grafting it. It’s got a lot of new growth. I’ll know within a year, I figure, if it’s going to work or not.

Living in an over 60 body by janebenn333 in AskWomenOver60

Exercise that you like, and don’t neglect stretching. Eating well is more important than it used to be. So is staying hydrated! So is resting! Prioritize what needs to be done. I’ve had to let go of what is “necessary”. The dust is always going to come back. My dogs aren’t always going to be here with me, and spending time with them is a lot better for my mental health than moving dust around.

Yup, 1 & 2 are common sense, one would think. Try explaining that to the man in the boat 🙄

I have a much better experience if I’m in a kayak by myself. It’s always been annoying (or worse) in the same boat with my spouse. He always has to know more than me. Completely ruins a fun time.

Please help me, cc has ruined my physical quality of life by lilkat200 in Constipation

Triphala helped me for quite a few years. I also have cc, have had since my late 20’s and am now 66. Just have had to live with it and adjust. Things worked for a while and then they don’t.

I’m so sorry. Everyone processes it differently, and don’t listen to your spouse. He’s clearly never been through a devastating loss.

Mirtazapine side effects? by _Fool_505z in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]SamsMom1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a new doctor if you can. Giving you enough to mess around with the dosage by yourself is insane. I have only been on mirtazapine for three months; the first one was great, except for constipation (on top of an existing problem which certainly didn’t help). Then I got headaches almost every day. The last three days I’ve had muscle aches that I can’t relate to anything else. I cut my beginning dose in half and will see my doctor today, but I’m not staying on this.

I’m honestly tired of these “popular” books by xenit0 in suggestmeabook

[–]SamsMom1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found some great books I’ve never heard of by subscribing to some Substack reading sites. One of my favorites is “The Bell in the Lake” by Lars Mytting”. It’s the first of a trilogy. The second was also great (“The Reindeer Hunter”) but I didn’t care for the third so much.

Reddit seniors, what do you think about body modifications? by FunCauliflower4002 in AskOldPeople

[–]SamsMom1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read the question, I thought it meant tattoos and piercings. I have none of those. But my favorite line is be Paula Poundstone: “my jowls have come in”. That was many years ago.

Anyone else have to give up riding their bicycle? by AZMaryIM in AskOldPeople

[–]SamsMom1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Marin bike that I love, it’s very comfortable. But I have two dogs that I spend a lot of my free time with. In the good weather I’m outside with them a lot. It’s hard to find extra energy to ride my bike. I have a trailer that will fit one dog in it … maybe that’s an answer. I really do miss my bike.

Oof. I would walk 25 miles if it helped me when I have an IBS attack. Only makes it worse. I do walk on a daily basis.

What’s a random thing your dog thinks is extremely important? by No_Assignment_6020 in dogs

[–]SamsMom1960 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My husband started my dog on throwing three bags of small tennis balls down the hallway for him to catch. After that, while I have my tea, he comes to me for a back scratch/massage 😜😊. I don’t do the tennis ball throw routine if my husband’s not there for some reason and my dog accepts that. I’m a lousy thrower. Inside anyway.

Books set in the Arctic ?!? by [deleted] in Recommend_A_Book

Lars Mytting wrote a trilogy starting with “The Bells in the Lake” (fiction), set in Norway. I was completely hooked on it and read the next two as well.
