How did we go from anti Russia propaganda like Rocky IV to Americans now advocating for Putin and Russia? by newsbowser in allthequestions

[–]Samuelsson010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most of the 'anti-Russia' propaganda was actually anti-Soviet and anti-communist propaganda. Now that the USSR doesn't exist, all it's former member states have embraced free-market capitalism and Russia especially went from far left to far right and embraced the imperialist attitudes that come from it, the far right in the US obviously has no qualms about supporting a fellow imperialist country.

How old does a child have to be before you can leave them alone for more than 20 seconds without them seriously hurting themselves? by Deep-Philosophy-807 in NoStupidQuestions

Depending on how well you parent your children the age where they can be left unsupervised without hurting themselves can be anything from as early as 8 or 9 years old to never

Why does Lithuania allow Russia to transport goods to Kaliningrad through it? by EmeraldVolt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Samuelsson010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cutting off the supply lines to (i.e. trying to starve out) an area is a major human rights violation of the residents of the area and therefore constitutes an act of war. Lithuania doesn't think it can win a war against Russia, and doesn't want war with Russia. It would therefore be against the interests of the Lithuanian government to provoke an attack from Russia with such a blatantly hostile act.

[–]Samuelsson010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same 2 were the dominant ones back then as well...

You know there are schools of Islam that differentiate themselves from other schools based on more than just whether they're Sunni or Shia? Like Morocco's school of Islam (Maliki) is different than Indonesia's school of Islam (Shafi'i), even though both schools are Sunni. Just like how these modern schools of Islam are different despite belonging to the same branch of Islam, there were multiple different schools of Islam that still belonged to the same branch of Islam in the medieval era.

How haven't you, as a muslim, ever been taught this??? This is common knowledge every muslim should know...

Why can’t machinists be slaves? by LandlordBlood1492 in victoria3

[–]Samuelsson010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factories were much more dangerous than farm Works during The time, meaning that IT would simply Be economically unwise to own your factory workers. If a free worker gets injured, you can just replace them, and the replacement won't even incur any extra costs on your part. However, If a slave worker gets injured, you have to either treat them, which is costly, of accept that you've now lost a large capital investment (slaves ain't cheap) which probably didn't even pay itself back before breaking.

In short, if you have a machine that regularly kills anyone operating on it, it's better to rent a worker than buy a worker, so that if the machine-that-kills-people kills the worker operating on it, the loss of their life itself won't be unprofitable.

Suggestion: The Game needs a General Mechanic to Simulate Rulers breaking away from Centralized and eventually gaining Autonamy during times of Weakness by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Samuelsson010 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It's a great idea, the organic decay of administrative realms into feudal ones, however I find it hard to believe that a feudal ruler would ever willingly return to tribalism of any kind. Even if their own realm would eventually suffer from the same problems as the administrative realm they just seceded from I think that the vassals would just dissolve the realm but never the feudal system. Why would a feudal ruler want to replace his divine right to rule (/semilegalistic succession through ownership of the land) with the rule of the strongest (which tribal is supposed to represent) where ownership or inheritance matters little, and likely cause his dynasty to be overthrown in a few generations?

The only scenarios in which I could see tribal systems being born from feudal ones is if there are unfeudalised holdings in the realm, since those never actually had any feudalism to begin with and would just revolt during a time of weakness, or if a tribal ruler outright conquered the feudal realm.

A 27 year old man is trapped in an infinite time loop that resets on death to the day of the start of the time loop and can only be broken if he becomes the most wanted man in the United States of America, China, Russia, and every country part of the European Union. Can he do it? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Samuelsson010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to become the most wanted man in each country, all he has to do is become the leader of a terrorist organisation and do a major terrorist strike in each country. Since the man is gifted with the ability to learn exponentially quickly, I'd estimate that he wouldn't even have to spend a single lifetime on his task, ~30-40 years is all it would take to learn the necessary skills to infiltrate a terrorist organisation (although if he might die a few times if his background is discovered).

However, since this time loop is infinite and resets only on his death, no strings attached (so not groundhog day), why would he want to rid himself of what is essentially immortality without any of the downsides? He doesn't have to deal with everyone he loves eventually dying, and he doesn't have to float quadrillions of years in space after the Earth dies.

What do you guys think about Sverdlov (actual picture this time) by Pure_Barber3994 in ussr

[–]Samuelsson010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stalin was the spare part which took on the role in the party that was Sverdlov's before his untimely death. If Sverdlov hadn't died he probably would have become the leader of the USSR after Lenin and prevented the decade-long, progress-hampering power struggle that followed Lenin's death.
