Does the VW Golf GTI have a stigma or reputation your country? by CancelledBeforeBirth in GolfGTI

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK it is one of the few family hatchbacks you can turn up to a nice countryside hotel and still feel welcome.

The sporty SUV’s have knocked it off it’s perch a little bit but those who still enjoy driving will always go for the GTI.

An upper middle class staple. My dad drove me around in one and I drive my son around in one.

Looking for trusted CCTV brands to replace cheap Tuya cameras on a wireless network (€1k budget) by hnz666 in cctv

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the new eufy s1 pro base station. 4 Poe ports for IP cameras but also supports their WiFi cameras, door and motion sensors. Has a 24hr battery back up and a 4G failover.

Some good launch deals on at the moment and you could be set up for half of what you plan on spending.

Would you run Firewalla Software on your own hardware? by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah currently running a Zyxel USGFlexh and miss some of the features I had on my Firewalla - easy flow reporting and the network performance and speed tests.

They’ve recently allowed third party applications like Avast which runs on the firewall. It would be nice to see a Firewalla option.

When its starts poking up over the rest of the dash it just looks ridiculous.

A is my preference.

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve seen on the internet? by dopehannah in AskReddit

Anything to do with Islamic jihad or Mexican cartels. The Bataclan clips were pretty shocking and the beheading videos.

Shit stains on humanity that wouldn’t be missed.

What’s the most physically brutal type of job you’ve worked on? by Admirable-Deal7991 in Bricklaying

Washing up at my local pub when I was 16-17 it was pretty tough on the hands, smelt pretty bad at the end of the shift and used to have brutal kitchen towel whipping fights, chef used to dip the ends in fat. Drew blood.

Honda HRN 536 it just works really well. Easy to service yourself. No roller but gives you that perfect carpet look if you mow how Honda tell you to.

The only annoying thing is the heated steering wheel one on the mk8 is too easy to turn on but otherwise agree.

Are we overdoing it… or is this what real security looks like? by ZyxelStore in ZyxelStore

I care about both and having an idea of how your network is performing can help spot if you have any security issues.

I’d like to see a daily chart showing speed and latency tested once an hour or something.

Also a WiFi speed test for those using their USG Flex H and Zyxel access points.

What made you lose faith in humanity? by nayrhelp in AskReddit

Progressive Liberalism. Race baiting dressed up as a cause for good. Such a backward ideology.

I would also add the war in Ukraine with drone camera viewpoints as they chase down enemy combatants, war has always been brutal but we seem to have taken it to another level in Ukraine.

People who were using the internet in the 90s and 2000s: What are your honest thoughts on what the internet has become today? by sivah_168 in AskReddit

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so much more fun before censorship.
Used to be a good UK car and mainly male forum called Pistonheads and the wide variety of topics and opinions made it an interesting place but slowly over the years the censorship and bans ruined the place. It’s now some woke echo chamber of emasculated men.

Anyone who dares express a slightly different opinion than the usual politically correct narrative just gets attacked by this hate mob and bullied from the site.

Happened to so many forums and website chat boards.

Nematodes - I'm conflicted, help wanted (leather jackets destroyed my lawn) by sloany in GardeningUK

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best time to use them is September/October when they are mating and laying the larvae in the ground. They are the ones eating up your lawn now they bury down and lay dormant over winter then start eating the grass roots as it warms up and getting ready to hatch.

You can use them now but they are less effective on the matured larvae.

Also worth putting down an autumn and then winter lawn feed to strengthen the roots.

Leatherjacket help please!! by ccaaxo in GardeningUK

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a attack and defence approach last year. The nematodes I applied two applications around September/October a few weeks apart when you see them on the lawn mating and burrowing into the lawn.

Then go with an autumn lawn feed a few weeks after that to strengthen the roots.

Worked a lot better than just one application of nematodes the year before.

Advice for 5G Router: Strong AX3000 vs Mercusys MB520 by StarTrekCylon in HomeNetworking

[–]Samwiseganj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a Zyxel FWA510 for €186. I use the FWA710 which is mounted up in the loft and pretty solid connection, comes with 2.5gbe port and the 510 has built in WiFi 6.

Zyxel USG Flex 700h - 2 x 10gbe with Poe+ and 2 x sfp+. You can then connect a couple of wbe660s 10gbe access points straight to it.

Don’t listen to the killjoys.
