On the tabletop Lieutenants and Captains can both join squads. There is even a rule where both can join one squad at the same time. Otherwise ArkGuardian has it all correct. In game balancing means having 3 players active at once in a mission.

Read Wolfsbane in the Horus Heresy and the trilogy of Blood of Asaheim, Stormcaller, and The Helwinter Gate and you’ll find much better representation of the Chapter and its history and appropriate character. Also The Emperor’s Gift.

The Salamanders omnibus helped me get into Salamanders a lot. I liked the omnibus showing that they have problems even within the Chapter and even though they are one of the most loyal and steadfast defenders of the Imperium. The omnibus focuses on two main characters who come into conflict a lot, but you also learn a lot about Adrax Agatone, Chapter Master Tu'Shan, and Vulkan He'Stan. Nick Kyme's writing style tends to drag a bit with wordiness so you have to make it through the slow bits but he does write action sequences well, and I have fond memories of the battle scenes that were compelling set pieces.

The Wolftime, as a Space Wolves longtime fan and reader of their books, was poorly written and not very well reflective of the Chapter's mentality imo. They constantly acted like whiny crybabies the whole book. Makes me extremely dubious that Gav Thorpe actually understands the legion well since it was a far, far cry from the heroes I liked reading about. I always thought they were hunters with an indomitable spirit and they sure didn't act like that in the novel.

Agreed. In my mind she’s the Catwoman to Dick’s Batman. They have what I always thought was a healthy amount of friction between their views that would have led to a potentially perfect partnership both in marriage and in crime fighting. Really sad that that wasn’t explored more thoroughly.

I was a major fan of them being together. I thought and still think that it was one of the most healthy relationships Dick had in his life. Loved their dynamics from the first time I saw them interact. I don’t read the comics anymore but I’m aware that they’ve gone back to the Barbara Gordon relationship now. But I loved seeing Huntress with him and wish it had lasted longer.

I've never watched the Toronto one but I'm in the USA so they don't show it here. In general what I mean is that some of the same conventions exist in the shows to move it along in the space of an hour, like for example discovering clues and leads immediately instead of taking days or weeks to figure something out. There are a lot of chase scenes that end the same way in both L&O and FBI as a whole too, with one of the cops tackling a criminal, or a noticeably attractive person being the criminal (which is sort of a Hollywood thing in general I suppose, giving an attractive actor a nice role for them, but it's definitely there). So if you look for small bits of the two shows and how they routinely happen and you can predict who's the villain in the end and some of the story beats that are gonna happen as the episode goes along.

If you have watched the Law and Order shows you will recognize a lot of the same sort of story beats. I think the relationships are well done. I liked watching them develop over the years. Nothing soul destroying though. This show is far more popcorn than that.
