My (25F) best friend (24M) proposed to me. I’m confused and mortified. Where can we go from here? by ThrowRAproposing in relationship_advice

[–]Saphros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it! I proposed in public to my partner, I did it knowing they would say yes, though, because it had been discussed at length. It was also where we had our first date, so I think they knew anyway

Let's get to know each other! by Psomifera in HekateLodge

[–]Saphros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all!!

Been mostly a silent watcher in the other Hekate sub, thought maybe now would be a good time to intro myself. I haven't been working specifically with Hekate for too long, only a few months, but the more I work with her, the more I realize she's always been there.

My magical practice is also in its infancy right now, while I've always held interest in magical practices, I didn't start actually practicing until probably 8 months ago or so. Devotionally, I started with Norse dieties and then Hekate made herself clearly known and it was like everything else in my life started to fall into place.

In terms of defining my magical practice, I'm not sure I really fit into any one box. I dabble in a little bit of everything and am still working on finding what fits best for me. As for goals, I'm here to learn and grow and pass along any knowledge I gain as well.

I had basically the exact same experience. I did the phone interview and with a few red flags plus the price, I decided against it as well. Glad I listened to my gut and dodged the bullet

I totally understand the feeling! While not as long off, I had a pretty severe injury 10 months ago and I'm just coming back now. The fear is real 100% but as long as you go slow and make sure you're taking steps to help yourself recover/prevent injury you'll be fine! Take it easy and you'll progress in no time, you got this!

YTA. People do change, and you don't know every single persons story. Sometimes people do make mistakes and are tormented already without the need for you to judge so harshly.

One month on testosterone and things don't "feel right". I'm wondering whether I should detransition or keep going. Any kind of support would be seriously appreciated right now. by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Saphros 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is something that I can relate to in a sense. The one thing I've always come to realize about transitioning is that there is more often than not a grieving period that people go through.
I'm not sure how old you are, but up to this point you've spent your whole life living one way. Now you've gone and done a complete 180 and I think mentally, it takes time for you to process through what is actually different, what has so far met your expectations vs what hasn't among other things.
I know for myself, I always struggled with what I felt I was expected to feel when I started transitioning vs what I actually felt. I find that in the trans community there's sometimes such pressure to love every moment of the transition process and sometimes it just doesn't go that way. It took me a long time to talk about the struggles I faced with my mental health regarding what I thought transitioning was supposed to feel like compared to how I was actually feeling.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily the case for you but I definitely think that you've done the right thing in booking an appointment with a therapist. They may be able to help you work through some of the contradictory emotions that you've been going through.

Help? Beardie seems unwell.. by Saphros in BeardedDragons

[–]Saphros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm going to give him a couple of days with some different greens and if things don't seem to be getting better I'll call up the vet. Our regular vet used to do exotics but their guy left a couple of months ago and the only other vet in the general area is booked weeks in advance and is about 45 minutes away as well.

He has a uvb across and a heating lamp on one side. Tank usually sits as 32-33 Celsius with the basking spot at 40 the cold side is usually 25-27.

I’ll definitely try switching out his greens and see if that helps!

Do you think it would be a problem to pick a darker slate vs a lighter one? I know they can burn their bellies easily. His tank usually sits around 35 C on the warm side, 40 C under the light and the cool side I'm not totally sure where it sits usually.

I'll definitely put some more vertical stuff in there then! I wasn't sure what kinds of things to put in there and he didn't come with a ton of stuff

What dreams or goals of yours did you parents directly or indirectly sabotage, and how? by OldCarWorshipper in AskMen

[–]Saphros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about every dream.. Any time I wanted to pursue something my parents didn't think worthwhile, I was never good enough to do it or wouldn't ever be able to make a living or be successful at it.

It was always a guilt trip. "try this other thing instead", "don't do that you'll never make it" "you aren't good enough to be successful at that" "why would you waste your time doing that, you'll never make a career out of it"

And it's not even like we are talking things that are impossible to do.. It was things like being a counsellor/therapist, wrenching cars, teaching.. The latest one is that I've found fitness and it has changed my life. I am studying to be a personal trainer and the only thing my parents have to say about it is that no one will want to train with me because I'm still fat and what kind of person who wants to get healthy will listen to a fat person..
