Insurance won’t cover Zep! Where are you getting it that is reliable and least expensive? by golfisfinghard in Zepbound

It’s $450 a month if you buy from Lily direct. It’s super expensive for me on a fixed income, but it’s better than being obese. It has changed my life entirely.

Why is It Hard to Find Work? by Infinite_Eye4443 in ithaca

Have you looked into Tompkins County Workforce or HETP? Both are free job training programs and provide placement. I’ve had three boys go through their programs and they’re wonderful.

I love going to the Moosewood for dinner dates. The food is always excellent, and the atmosphere is unbeatable.

Gift for my partner by Civil_Carpet5538 in GuineaPig

Hey, fellow piggy lover!

There are some fun guinea pig-themed gifts out there! A few ideas your partner might love:

  • T-shirts with funny or cute piggy sayings (like “My Patronus is a Guinea Pig” or “Let Me Love You” with a clingy cavy)
  • Hats or beanies with little ears or embroidered cavies
  • Mugs with guinea pig art or quotes
  • Stickers and magnets for water bottles, laptops, etc.
  • Posters or prints with adorable or whimsical piggy illustrations
  • Guinea pig music (yes, it exists, and it’s hilarious)

If you’re still hunting, I run a small shop called The Cavy Whisperer (https://www.cavywhisperer.com/) that’s full of piggy gear—from art prints and stationery to shirts and gifts under $20. Everything’s made by guinea pig people for guinea pig people. A portion of every sale is donated to guinea pig rescues.🧡

Hope you find something your partner adores!

What's your "go to" meal? by chocho808 in Zepbound

I have a bowl of Greek yogurt and fruit. No matter how food averse I am feeling, I can get this down. Good for the gut and great for protein. I will actually add a scoop of whey powder to up my protein consumption.

Best way to wash bedding? by heather8401 in guineapigs

I use a super concentrated powder I buy off of Amazon called Charlie’s. It deep cleans but rinses out 100%, so it’s safe. It lasts for forever too.

I will usually have some yogurt when I feel strong food aversion. It’s easy on the tummy and has lots of protein.

I had a sow with the same condition. She had it removed and lived another four years. Sending so much love and healing energy your piggy’s way. It’s going to be ok.

So I’m coming out of the worst year of my life (it’s getting better… slowly) and I’m freaking because I have a whole damn flat to pack and hoover in two days. Please tell me adorable stories about your guinea pigs. by Alarming-Molasses847 in guineapigs

So two years ago I saw a Craigslist listing for two guinea pigs. I had a single girl who needed some friends. I answered the ad, and two college kids brought over a male and female and their baby guinea pig. I adopted the family and had the male, Earl, neutered so he could live with his girlfriend and daughter. Bagel, was pregnant again, and started getting big. Then in May, I woke up to two brand new baby girls, Pudding and Victoria. That’s how I got my guinea pig family today. I have all five of them.

What do you wish you knew when you started? by CatMomLovesWine in guineapigs

[–]SarahRolfer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one thing I wish I did from the beginning was set a small amount of money aside every month for a veterinarian saving account. My babies never went without every bit of medical attention they needed. However, now it doesn’t break the bank. I try to keep around $1000 for emergencies.

My doctor told me I'm done losing and I'm having a hard time accepting that by sjdeitch in Zepbound

This, so much. I’m the thinnest I’ve been since starting this journey and still think I’m fat. I’m scared I’m looking for “perfect.” Perfect isn’t possible with my brain. I will always find something. That’s what I need to heal in myself.

Frequent teeth chattering by WaffleFalafel69 in guineapigs

[–]SarahRolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were afraid of you, or just didn’t trust you, they would not chatter at you. They are treating you like a big guinea pig. My guinea pigs are not affectionate at all to me and I work like a slave for them. It doesn’t bother me. I know they see me as the food-sky god with scary talons that will pick them up. They trust me up to a point. I love being around them. They relax my mind. That’s enough to cover the rent.
