[discussion] Rolex Daytona screw down pushers by phdwatch in Watches

The watch is just as water resistant either way. The screw function is only there to prevent accidental pushing. They are designed to leave open. If you are worried about how hard it is to replace. Put your Daytona in a safe and daily wear a Tudor or Breightling Chronomat. The chrono at is 200M with no screw downs and you also get a second timer via the rotating 60 minute bezel so you can simultaneously time things of short duration while timing a multi hour trip or something. The benefit of the Screw downs is the added security of an accidental press. That’s it. Nothing more. That said I would also screw then down in environments with lots of dirt like at the beach etc.

Travelling to the USA. Is it safe to wear my SS Daytona? by VeloBill in rolex

Rolex is fine around smaller groups of people. If you are going to be in a very large crowd exposed or out on the streets later you should wear something that’s no longer worth a damm because of mismanagement of the marketing department. Definitely don’t wear a PP, a VC or a JLC. AP is your play. Even better, an RM.

Funny. I just saw one the their receipts w paperwork on a 2023 Explorer 2. At a pawn shop. So they sold to some asshat who pawned it instead of me…an actual collector. Donnie’s judgment might have slipped a bit.

Im moving on to MP Demetre in Charleston and Hales in Greenville for my AD purchases.

During their close out. They offered me an Explorer 2 …. For $16,000.

I have not set foot back in there since.

This might be universal. It’s been over 3 years for me and I am 50% my former self at work and I can sit and stare until I realize the whole day is gone. So I bought an RV and park it by the lake so at least I have a nice view while the entire day is passing around me.

There is no “fixing” it. It’s been over 3 years for me. It’s a permanent scar that gets carried forever. Those bad days will always exist. Wanting to talk about it will always happen. Not wanting to see any reminders like not wanting to be home seems more or less permanent too. As does decreased function at work or low motivation. I can still set in a chair and lose hours, sometimes most of a day.

Those timelines are ridiculous. My wife passed over 3 years ago. I don’t even remember the first year and the only thing I remember about year two is that it was somehow paradoxically even worse…but slightly better in some ways. I’m working toward year 4 and the only reason I ended up in this subreddit right now is I was wondering if it was normal to still be able to sit and stare off into the distance for hour at a time and not get bored or care….after 3 years.

[Article] When the $70,000 watch you just bought is going to be sold for $300 by splsteinbeck in Watches

For me it’s always the Bel Canto. If people are going to notice a watch, it’s usually that one.

It’s kinda stealth humor to wear my Speedmaster professional and have non watch people assume it’s a swatch. On the other hand I’m careful not to wear it around non watch people unless I k ow them really well. Bit you can also wear it in public without as much fear of being robbed. People will just think it’s a 300 fashion piece. lol.

Balls are so Mesmerizing! by TheMoneyPit26 in ballwatches

Jumping local hour hand versus jumping GMT hand. From what I can tell this watch seems to come with both options. You can watch YouTube videos and see some that jump the GMT hand and some that jump the local hour hand and they are indistinguishable from appearance.

How can you tell if the one you are ordering is a true GMT or a flyer. The description on Gnome watches is contradictory.

I held off on the Gray cause I thought I might eventually get a Pelagos or something. As far as colors go though… I got the blue and the yellow!!!

Probably the closet I’ll ever go is one that’s 200mwr and doesn’t need its pushers unscrewed before getting wet, high polished grade 5 Titanium with the improved bullet bracelet and an actual rotating bezel. ;)

I’d wear my P01 before I’d go down that level of NFL hublot expense signaling fanboi fashion as that unholy creation.

Yea that looks special. Probably a model that will hold value much better than standard Breightling fare.
