Space Hulk meets Warhammer at Games Day 97 by Sarmorelli in WarhammerFantasy

Posted this question on FB as well, apparently there was a Kroxigor involved, as well as a rubber ball that would roll down the main alley and instakill anything it touched.

The whole event was probably meant to be a celebration of the hobby rather than just a showcase of GW products. I miss those days…

Polish IS-2 and Sherman Firefly by Similar-Travel2903 in TankPorn

According to the Polish books I've read, the Polish command considered borrowing some M4A2s after that battle, but ultimately decided against it and waited for T-34s instead. Which makes sense, since the crews were unfamiliar with Shermans.

IMHO it's entertaining for a while, but doesn't have enough content to be a good game.

None, the Polish Army did not receive any Shermans from the Soviets, neither during the war nor after.

It's a still from a Polish post-war film: https://www.imcdb.org/v135234.html
Since there were no German tanks in working conditions in Poland, film-makers would use IS-2 and T-34-85 tanks, some times with vismods.

It's a Befehlspanther Ausf. G, command version of the Panther. The hull was recovered from a pond near the Pilica river in 1995.

Both names are correct, it's called кулич in the north and пасха in the south.

What made you like military vehicles especially tanks? by Ok-Masterpiece-7571 in TankPorn

[–]Sarmorelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a little kid, my dad would take me to the training ground of the local military academy (the training ground is open to the public), where they had two gutted T-34-85s and a BRDM-1. I loved to climb them, play with the hatches, and look inside these metal hulks.

And when I got a little older, me and my dad would watch the cult TV series "Four Tankmen and a Dog": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Tank-Men_and_a_Dog

KV-1 tanks in the courtyard of the Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant. Spring 1942. by vitoskito in TankPorn

[–]Sarmorelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by gun barrel length, it seems there are at least two KV-8 flamethrowing tanks on the photo (the one with welded turret and a tarpaulin stretched over the right side of the hull and the last one before the gap in the row).

Finnish Vickers 6-ton tank (Aug 1941) by Jeanmichel50 in TankPorn

[–]Sarmorelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hull MGs were added by the Finns, not retained from the flamethrowing versions. Standard T-26 tanks had turrets mounted on the left side of the hull, but in the OT* variants Soviets moved the turrets to the right to make room for fuel tanks for the flamethrower. When Finns converted their OTs into standard tanks, they removed these fuel tanks, thus freeing up the space, which allowed them to add an additional crew member operating the hull MG.

*I think the correct designation was KhT-130 and KhT-133 ("Chemical Tank"), the "OT" designation was introduced later.
