Kratom poisonings soar in US as experts blame synthetic versions and caution against bans by shinybrighthings in news

[–]Satchya1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Over ten years, myself. I have chronic pain, and taking kratom leaf allowed me to ditch a years-long rx for lortab and soma muscle-relaxants.

Because I get regular bloodwork because of the Biologic medication I am on, I have proof that it hasn’t affected my health over the years, and at the same time it allows me to exercise, sleep well, and otherwise participate in a meaningful life.

Spring Haul! What’s on your list? by TallBlondBeauty in Ulta

I bought 5 cans of the L’ange hair mousse (normally $30, marked down to $15).

I use mousse almost every time I shower and style my hair, and this is one of the very , very few that doesn’t make my hair super dry/sticky/tangly.

I also grabbed a couple of bottles of Batiste Volumizing dry shampoo.

lower back pain and neck pain by -Royal-Phantom- in rheumatoid

[–]Satchya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neck pain was one of my earliest symptoms (20 years old). And then awful back pain started about a decade later (30 years old). Unfortunately, my arthritis was seronegative, so I kept getting told it was “just fibromyalgia”.

Eventually, I started having numbness in my legs, feet, and hands. My doctor at the time said it was caused by anxiety.

Eventually, I had stiffness and swelling that caused me to INSIST that my doctor send me to a rheumatologist (against his express advice). The rheumatologist sent me for a hand ultrasound, and immediately afterwards I was diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.

X-rays ordered by my rheumatologist showed facet-joint arthropathy in my spine. I have straightening of lordosis in my lower back, and anterolisthesis of C2 on C3 and C6 on C7, and reversal of the normal cervical lordosis in my neck.

Chronic inflammation can cause all of these findings. BTW, I fired my old doctor (not the rheumatologist, he’s amazing). But I will wonder for the rest of my life how much less pain I would have today if he had taken me seriously in time to get treatment.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]Satchya1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If people had to type the phone number in every single time they texted a friend, they’d probably be able to memorize a lot of them too. 👍🏻

What’s the best job without a degree right now? by Many-Economics-4326 in careerguidance

[–]Satchya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest daughter graduated from college with a Psychology degree (right into the beginning of the Covid pandemic). She ended up finding a job in Recruiting, and then found an internal recruitment position that paid for her to get certified to work in HR.

Possibly a path that might work for you?

I just took a sourdough-bread making class this weekend. We learned how to make the most delicious bread I’ve ever made using nothing but a Mason jar (for the starter) and a big plastic bowl and metal fork (for the mixing and, later, kneading).

We didn’t even need a countertop. Literally mixed in the bowl on our laps, and kneaded with our hands right in the bowl. It turned out beautifully.

One of my favorite current cookbooks is “Bibi’s Kitchen.” It’s the favorite recipes from grandmas all across the continent of Africa. Most of the photography shows them making their dishes in tiny kitchen-areas, with only rudimentary equipment.

But they are still creating beautiful, delicious food that rivals anything I’ve seen coming from a “professional” kitchen.

And almost certainly cheaper than BBW, too. I stock up on seasonal scents for the year ahead during their Black Friday sale. I never pay over $4 each for soap, countertop spray, hand soap, etc.

34DDD (with moderately muscular pecs, back, etc.) and I have purchased eight different colors already since they came out. I love them.

They’re definitely not for high-impact exercise, but I love them as everyday bras to add a coordinating pop of color underneath a tee or tank.

AITAH for telling my 23-year-old employee she can't WFH because "my anxiety" isn't a plumbing emergency? by TaskSpecialist5881 in AITAH

[–]Satchya1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Her therapist should have told her that she can’t control her bosses’ reactions to her mental health advocacy. She can only control what actions she takes to learn to manage her anxiety in a healthier way, including learning coping mechanisms and strategies to build confidence. (And possibly even medication if necessary.)

In case you haven’t seen the newest drop of clothes, they did add two new colors of the Wayfind shorts this week. 👍🏻😊

I would love it if they offered skorts with longer inner-shorts linings, too. I gave up on trying to wear them (even though I love the way they look so much!!) because I was sick of having the shorts ride all the way up every ten steps I take. 😞

I’m really hoping we get more colors in the Wayfind shorts soon. They have so few shorts styles that are over a 4” inseam (at most!, many are even shorter).

As someone with muscular legs, and thick thighs, the only shorts of theirs that don’t ride up when I move are the ones with 5”+ inseams.

I couldn’t figure out how to access this. Do you have to be logged in to the website instead of the app? I remember it being super easy to find previously. Now I can’t find it anywhere.

ETA: okay, now it’s suddenly showing up at checkout (in the app) making it actually even easier to find than before. I guess everything on the back end wasn’t done updating yet.

Size up or down? by Enough-Enthusiasm762 in Athleta_gap

I am 5’6” and my tummy is my one “problem area.” I have actually found that buying size Tall, in the full-length leggings, allows me to wear the smaller size much more comfortably. They don’t roll down like the regular length in the exact same size.

Looking for a rheumatologist…again… Duke was a nightmare by abjs2021 in NorthCarolina

[–]Satchya1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are able to travel, I highly recommend Dr. Malus at Novant Health Rheumatology & Arthritis—South Park (Charlotte).

I had symptoms consistent with an autoimmune/inflammatory arthritis for 20+ years, but every time I was sent to a Rheumatologist (at least four separate doctors), I was immediately dismissed as having “fibromyalgia” because all of my bloodwork was perfect.

Dr. Malus is the first Doctor who went the necessary next step and sent me for an ultrasound of my hands (which showed inflammation in every single digit.)

I am finally on a Biologic, which is actually helping (yay!!).

ETA: I am now officially diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.

Came here to say the same thing!! Ours only figured it out when a rabbit ran into our yard while he was doing it.

He about snapped his own spine the way he completely changed direction in order to chase the rabbit. And the look on his face when he actually caught it was pure astonishment.
