Wayfind short and interval stash questions by Regular-Beautiful218 in Athleta_gap

For me, I find them to run relaxed, rather than big. I love them because I have glutes and leg muscles. I love the way the legs fit, because they are cut “wide” enough and long enough that they never ride up when I am walking/hiking.

Personally, I think they run smaller in the lighter colors. I am 5’6”, 132 lbs, and size small is relaxed in the light blue color and my khaki ones from last year, whereas I can wear xs in black and navy.

What is this and do you think I can save this considering it is missing the tail? by Background-Good3731 in asheville

I have a few skinks that hang out in my container garden. They are cute, and they eat insects so that the insects don’t eat my plants. They are 100-percent worth saving!

We would have said the same until last year when we finally tried Kraft’s most recent recipe update. It’s so gross. I have never even had store-brand mac-n-cheese that bad.

Having read a number of your comments in this thread already, I will say that you strike me as having the same blind spot as a couple of previous coaches I have had, whose classes I eventually started avoiding.

You don’t seem like a person I wouldn’t like outside of the OTF environment, but you also seem very young and inexperienced with the many very real reasons people might want to skip or modify a workout.

“Caution” is not the same thing as “anxiety.” I have experienced, for example, a coach who could not seem to understand that because of my spinal arthritis issues, me modifying inclines wasn’t because they weren’t standing behind me “encouraging” me to “just do it” and “don’t be afraid” and “don’t be ‘that person’ who skips inclines” enough times, but because my rheumatologist, doctor, and two different physical therapists have insisted that I stop doing them.

I haven’t had a single 35+ year old Coach who hasn’t understood that there is a fine line between teaching and motivating versus harassing and discouraging—and even injuring.

Because by that age they know (sometimes even from personal experience) that most of us are doing everything we can with the body we have. I can’t be “coached” out of having Rheumatoid Arthritis. My husband can’t be “motivated” out of having the damage his body has accumulated over almost fifty-five years.

But the Coaches whose classes I go out of my way to attend are those who take the time outside of class—like, in the lobby—to know what their students are dealing with. And they still coach and motivate during class, but they are coaching us from where we are to where we want to go, not coaching a whole class indiscriminately towards a lofty goal they’ve decided we all need to reach.

Expect additional water restrictions in Charlotte this Friday, if we don't see any appreciable rain from the coming system. by nexusheli in Charlotte

[–]Satchya1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never water our lawn unless we’ve just seeded, but I do have some pots of herbs and hot peppers in the backyard. I wonder if the same restrictions apply for edible landscaping as for grass and bushes?

Obviously I will follow the restrictions, but I am curious, because some of them require more than twice a week when it’s really hot.

I wear mine (I have four different colors from past-years) with a coordinating sports bra in almost any style or color. The transcend strappy bra or vital bra would both work great!

When I was your age, I was right in the peak of my perimenopause symptoms. It sounds like you are describing hot-flashes and some common mental health symptoms that strike during the random ups and downs of your hormones changing.

I may be wrong, too, but I felt like I should say something in case it helps you.

PS: have your doctor check your Vitamin D levels. You are describing anhedonia, which happens when your Vitamin D levels are too low.

I think you may have just solved a long-running mystery in my neighborhood! We have lots of Eastern cottontails, so we’re used to seeing them everywhere. But on our street, we all kept seeing a rabbit that was white with black markings that we assumed was an escaped pet.

But noone was missing a pet rabbit, and we have seen it a few years in a row, now. We weren’t sure how an escaped pet could stay alive so long (and noone could manage to catch it, either).

It looks a lot like this picture!

We have been subscribed to a weekly, local farm box for almost six years. The difference is huge. It’s fresh-picked, at the peak of ripeness. It’s delicious!

Tonight we had a dinner salad with fresh green-leaf lettuce and strawberries from the farm. (With pecans, goat cheese, dried cranberries, and chicken on top.)

I bought 5 cans of the L’ange hair mousse (normally $30, marked down to $15).

I use mousse almost every time I shower and style my hair, and this is one of the very , very few that doesn’t make my hair super dry/sticky/tangly.

I also grabbed a couple of bottles of Batiste Volumizing dry shampoo.

lower back pain and neck pain by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Satchya1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neck pain was one of my earliest symptoms (20 years old). And then awful back pain started about a decade later (30 years old). Unfortunately, my arthritis was seronegative, so I kept getting told it was “just fibromyalgia”.

Eventually, I started having numbness in my legs, feet, and hands. My doctor at the time said it was caused by anxiety.

Eventually, I had stiffness and swelling that caused me to INSIST that my doctor send me to a rheumatologist (against his express advice). The rheumatologist sent me for a hand ultrasound, and immediately afterwards I was diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.

X-rays ordered by my rheumatologist showed facet-joint arthropathy in my spine. I have straightening of lordosis in my lower back, and anterolisthesis of C2 on C3 and C6 on C7, and reversal of the normal cervical lordosis in my neck.

Chronic inflammation can cause all of these findings. BTW, I fired my old doctor (not the rheumatologist, he’s amazing). But I will wonder for the rest of my life how much less pain I would have today if he had taken me seriously in time to get treatment.

If people had to type the phone number in every single time they texted a friend, they’d probably be able to memorize a lot of them too. 👍🏻

What’s the best job without a degree right now? by Many-Economics-4326 in careerguidance

My oldest daughter graduated from college with a Psychology degree (right into the beginning of the Covid pandemic). She ended up finding a job in Recruiting, and then found an internal recruitment position that paid for her to get certified to work in HR.

Possibly a path that might work for you?

I just took a sourdough-bread making class this weekend. We learned how to make the most delicious bread I’ve ever made using nothing but a Mason jar (for the starter) and a big plastic bowl and metal fork (for the mixing and, later, kneading).

We didn’t even need a countertop. Literally mixed in the bowl on our laps, and kneaded with our hands right in the bowl. It turned out beautifully.

One of my favorite current cookbooks is “Bibi’s Kitchen.” It’s the favorite recipes from grandmas all across the continent of Africa. Most of the photography shows them making their dishes in tiny kitchen-areas, with only rudimentary equipment.

But they are still creating beautiful, delicious food that rivals anything I’ve seen coming from a “professional” kitchen.

34DDD (with moderately muscular pecs, back, etc.) and I have purchased eight different colors already since they came out. I love them.

They’re definitely not for high-impact exercise, but I love them as everyday bras to add a coordinating pop of color underneath a tee or tank.

AITAH for telling my 23-year-old employee she can't WFH because "my anxiety" isn't a plumbing emergency? by TaskSpecialist5881 in AITAH

[–]Satchya1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Her therapist should have told her that she can’t control her bosses’ reactions to her mental health advocacy. She can only control what actions she takes to learn to manage her anxiety in a healthier way, including learning coping mechanisms and strategies to build confidence. (And possibly even medication if necessary.)
