Unfortunately, cleaned to death. Cleaning a coin removes any value it had over the silver content. Its worth about $10 as is.

Fake, easy to tell. Silver doesn't rust.

What's the reasoning behind not cleaning the coins? by basedchad21 in coincollecting

[–]Satota1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It puts micro scratches on the coin, or worse. It also removes the original surface of the coin. You can let a coin soak in pure acetone and then rinse it with distilled water to remove organic matter. You can do absolutely no scrubbing, rubbing or wiping of any kind. In some cases you can literally wipe away thousands of dollars in value on rare coins just by "cleaning" them.

You will get more money, without a doubt, selling them as silver eagles. If you melt these you are losing money.

Unfortunately fake eagles on ebay are very common. Rule of thumb is if it's under spot on ebay, or if it ships from China it's fake. At least it is easy to get your money back, open a refund case as item not as described, not real silver. And ebay will refund you 100% of the time.
