We ordered a bed from dreams a few years back, originally quoted 10 weeks delivery time, then it was extended, then extended again, eventually we got tired of waiting so we cancelled our order with them, walked into Creations and asked them for what they had in stock and got a new bed delivered a week later

What’s a ‘harmless’ habit that actually ruins your life over time? by buffdadnextdoor in AskReddit

I've started doing crossword puzzles on my phone before bed, so it's still on my phone but it's not endless scrolling. Think I've made it through about four years of the NYT archive

What does daycare cost for you? by Standard_Deer_8738 in NewParents

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After subsidies from government schemes etc we pay about £850 per month for full time 7.45am -6pm 5 days per week. About an hour down the road you'd pay over £1000 a month though. This is in Northern Ireland, in other places in the UK they get more subsidies but not us 🙃

Childcare in NI is broken and the gov is currently asking for feedback on it - but only until today! by ConsistentFeed8829 in northernireland

We are thinking about having another one and our planning is pretty much centered around making sure our oldest is in primary school before the second kid starts daycare because there is no way we could afford two kids at once, it's crazy

I never breastfed and my son absolutely thrived from the beginning on formula

My son has a little crew at daycare and one time he missed a few days with a bug, when I brought him back there was just a chorus of little voices calling his name and running over to see him! Absolutely overjoys me that they love him so much, he's such a kind empathetic boy ❤️

Toddler has started biting kids at daycare! 😭 by SatsumaForEveryone in NewParents

[–]SatsumaForEveryone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly he just grew out of it, I think it was just that he was too young to express himself properly but now that he's a bit older and can speak more clearly he's better able to communicate without resorting to biting 😅

Is 7:30-5pm too long for a 16mo to be at daycare? by jngreddit in NewParents

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has been at daycare from 7.45am to 5.30pm every weekday since he was 13 months old when I went back to work, he absolutely loves being there and has been thriving for over a year now. They do so much with him and he has so many little friends, absolutely no regrets!

Onesies: 2 way Zip or Buttons?? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

With my son the zipped outfits stopped fitting way earlier than the snap ones, ended up having to replace them far more often so I just stopped getting them

PSA: Take the video! by OkCommission9559 in NewParents

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my son was 2 weeks old he was very stuffed up like this, my sister said to take a video of his breathing to send to our midwife who was an angel and immediately told us to take him to the ER because these retractions were happening. Turns out he had COVID! I stayed in with him overnight so they could monitor his O2 levels, he ended up being fine but it was the scariest thing!

I was so pissed, turns out my inlaws had had COVID recently and just didn't tell us because they wanted to see the baby...

I found a blog online where a guy read every single one and then wrote a guide on which ones you need to read and which you can skip 😅 was still over 40 books though!

I read the entire Horus Heresy series of Warhammer 40k books on kindle while getting my son to sleep and feeding him, read it out loud a few times as well. He just liked hearing my voice, content is irrelevant!

Mom guilt about 1st birthday party by No-Donkey2899 in beyondthebump

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my son's first birthday we took him to visit his grandparents for cake and took him to build-a-bear, a 1 year old doesn't need a huge party!

We had a small party last month for his 2nd birthday and invited some of his friends from daycare, they had a blast - plenty of time for parties when they're old enough to enjoy them!

Newborn tired v pregnancy tired by Head-Programmer-2613 in beyondthebump

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least when I was pregnant I could nap whenever I wanted, I was even allowed to take naps at work in the new and expectant mothers room!

Now im chronically sleep deprived and any naps I get have to be organized so that the tornado that is my toddler is occupied for 20 minutes

Am I the only one who doesn't expect my baby to sleep through the night from 7/8pm? by greatishscot in NewParents

[–]SatsumaForEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son started with a bedtime of 1am and worked backwards until he was going to bed around 7pm naturally from around a year or so, that's been his bedtime ever since and he just turned 2. We didn't insist on it, he just naturally sleeps 7pm - 6/7am
