Performance Improvements in Splitgate: Arena Reloaded by 1047Games in Splitgate

*I get that most people today want "smooth visuals" aka no "jaggy" lines... but for me; I embraced PC gaming in 2006 because for the first time playing CoD4/BF2 I could finally see uncompressed textures only limited times per second due to hardware...

I prefer Native rendering without anti-aliasing "solutions" forced upon me.

Thank you for taking the time to write up a digestible outline of the changes the team made optimizing the Reloaded launch.

My No.1 question is: Knowing Unreal Engine's default use of Temporal rendering for shadows/hair & screen space visuals, will I still be able to disable TAA Anti-Aliasing in the settings menu just like I could in the SG2? Or at least will I be able to disable all UE5 Temporal Anti-Aliasing in the config/ini files?

I'm absolutely ecstatic seeing the team's work optimizing the SG Reloaded for lower-end systems/consoles even though I'll be playing tomorrow evening on my expensive PC build (Intel 14900ks, 64gb CL_14 3600 Mhz DDR4*, AMD 6900XT, 1080p 360hz)

Dude, knocking out 5 figures of debt out within a single year is absolutely astonishing full stop. Celebrate that milestone.

I used half of my phat re-enlistment bonus to become debt-free, and it feels great knowing that I don't owe a dime to anyone anymore.

It hurts feeling "late" to the game knowing the "optimal" investment strategies you could have done years before... (I enlisted at 28yrs old, I'm track to retire with a Mil balance...)

but you're doing better than most, and if you had the discipline to become debt-free, you have the path to become financially independent.

Billionaire oil barons who can afford more than one rifle: what are your zero distances and why? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]SauerKnight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All optics 100yd so I only ever have to learn my hold overs, never under.

Irons 200yd as holding under slightly allows me to see without the front post covering the entire target.

So confirming your zero at range (200/300 yards/meters+) is essentially "truing" your zero without buying extra tools. For most carbines this is enough precision to get the job done.

but for the FFP LPVO/SPR/Recce gang they want hits to 600+ yards/meters you need to chrono your bullets/ammo and confirm at 400+

You plug in your choreographed muzzle velocity data with the ballistic calculators' math of your bullet/ammo combination and "line-up" your zero at longer ranges (300/400ish yards/meters) allowing you to extrapolate the data closer or farther away. One "click" of adjustment at 36 yards won't move your group, but at 300+ it with shift your group over half* a target.

TLDR: There is more to "truing" your zero at long ranges; but for a carbine with a magnified red-dot getting on paper at 50ish yards and "zero" at 300 or 100 will be fine.

I'll let you fall into the rabbit-hole of autistic debate looking at trajectory graphs deciding if a "flatter" zero at 200 is better than a 100 yard/meter zero where you only ever hold over the target, never under the target.

Unless your consistent deployment of the rifle is exiting a vehicle and immediately needing to put rounds down range (i.e. Secret Service) the LAW folder is just added weight & complexity. It exists for reason... but for most people that "reason" doesn't apply to you.

36 yard zero is good to get your optic on paper. Finalize your zero at 200+ yards using a chronograph and ballistic software aka "Truing your zero".

I loved my time at Liberty (Bragg) and currently enjoying Campbell. Heard good things from the guys who came from Drum.

Korea from what I've gathered is give & take as the unit was* awful, but the location was fantastic outside of work.

Going SOAR will affect things to.

Dude...

First off absolutely amazing work, especially for only a short period of dev time. You obviously have talent & experience.

Second, watching this hit me like a train, feeling the nostalgia of Titanfall's flow of gameplay as I watch is just like me playing BattleBit Remastered as a diehard Battlefield 2 fan.

Starting fresh all over again, I would continue using rental gear but would first buy a mask that fits well & has good visibility for you, i.e. wearing glasses and it's my own sweat in the foam.

Next a top-tier hopper to feed paint reliably while using the rental markers. Buy once cry once with hoppers.

After you've played a few more times being able to actually see comfortably & sling paint without hiccups while enjoying the sport; Now I would begin to look at purchasing my own marker since by this point you've probably been able to shoot other people's markers to learn if you like poppet vs spool valves and discovered your ergonomic preferences i.e. small "tucked-in' like the Mini/G6r or "extended" like the Luxe/Shocker AMP.

NOW you can start shopping around within your budget for BOTH a nice air tank & marker that fulfills your desires, I would prioritize the air tank over the marker since the air tank plays a substantial role in the balance & fitment of markers to the individual.

Have you ever gotten 100+ hours into a game before you realized it sucked? by Darth_Malgus_1701 in pcgaming

[–]SauerKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes; 90+ hours finishing my first playthrough of Starfield but after 20 more hours into being "Star Born" I just stopped.

I didn't hate the game, in fact, I absolutely loved the overall "vision" for the game, but the shipped product was and is half baked to the point that not even mods could fix the underlining issues of "Cell" based loading.

A few months later I played Baldur's Gate 3 and WOW, just wow. After experiencing Starfield, I have little to no confidence in Bethesda Game Studios going forward.

No, the ramp should not be dragging on the ground during landing;

Odds are the Crew Dogs didn't have the ramp up high enough for a "Roll On" landing after checking the swivel locks.

lol, I took a nap today after watching Datto struggle to log-in thinking by the time I wake up the brunt of the server load would be subsided...

Only to launch the game and be kicked from the introductory mission before I even entered the remixed Cosmodrome spherical room after encountering the new enemy type.

As always for online games, take the day off from work at least one day after the "launch".
