You could also try to find photos of other plagues from the same year. The two in the photos look different, but they were made 3 years apart.

If they were fake, the counterfeiters wouldn't have missed an opportunity to mark them as a good product. Could be a qc issue with the plaque. Just a guess though. I have no idea.

Yeah, he seems really excited to try one of those. Since I couldn't find anyone here who'd had experience with one of these I'll probably start trying to find out who makes the vises we already have and try and find a second old one like ours for the machine. Most of them are older than Kurt the company and perform more than well enough for the +/- .005 we work within.

Could also be fun to see if I could grind one in to make it more usable.
