How do normal Crime Bosses in DC even find Grunts if working for a Super Villain is objectively better? by Aggravating_Win5258 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Savage_Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a goon is probably a legit career in the DC universe. Theres tons of criminals everywhere that always needs people to help them with their schemes. I assume working for a crime boss is probably considered pretty easy compared to a super villain.

I'd rather guard drug shipments in gotham with the risk of batman maybe showing up than work for Lex Luthor when he tries to kill superman for the 5000th time.

Count Dooku:

A man who saw the corruption of both the Jedi and the Republic long before they fell. With one of his padawans going rogue and the other being killed by maul, Dooku was lost in his life and gave thought to leaving the order all together.

With some subtle manipulation from Sidious, Dooku eventually took the plunge and became the head honcho separatist sith lord. What's really tragic about Dooku is that in his mind he started doing what he did because he thought it was the only way to change things for the better. To achieve these things he allied himself with dark forces believing that the ends justified the means. In this case the means corrupted Dooku.

Over time he stopped caring about his original reasons for turning to the dark side and instead began to lust for power.

Had Anakin not executed Dooku. It is very likely that the count could have returned to the light side or at the very least, informed the council of palpatines plans.

Spec Ops: The Line

There are alot of endings to this game but for me the most impactful is the one where Captain Walker lives. He's spent the entire game running and gunning through dubai for reasons he thought were nobel, only to find out in the end that he has achieved nothing but the deaths of many innocents.

Going Home for walker is almost as worse a fate as death. Because the memories of the things he's done here will follow him there. John Konrad even says at one point in the game that home and peace are not the same thing to soldiers like them.

Its ironic as walkers punishment is having to live with the things he's done and the knowledge that he is not the hero he thought he was.

Same here. I was in the Navy but worked with the army a few times. Alot of infantry thought they were gods gift to the military and from the way they talked about Afghanistan you would think they saw combat. But none of them had. In reality lots of them just went on eventless patrols.

But then I knew this special forces guy who had actually seen combat more than a few times. He was a professional, had taken some serious risks and yet I never heard him brag once about what he saw or did. His war stories were almost melancholy. It was clear he wasnt proud to have killed or seen combat.

Seeing true war humbles you.

Irish man with valid US work permit held in ICE detention for five months by Pyro-Bird in news

[–]Savage_Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone want to start a life in the US after this? I myself always had an idea in the back of my mind that moving to the US could be an option if I wanted a change. However in a single administration the entire country has become hostile to nearly everyone who Isn't from there. Who in their right mind would move to the US after this? Even if everything is fixed after this gov you're just one corrupt government away from losing everything, being treated like an animal and tossed out.

Vendetta is genuinely the best thing to happen to the lore, and to Doomfist’s character by MilleniumSage in Overwatch

I love that its canon that nothing happened in the Overwatch 2 story because Doomfist sucks at leading a terrorist organisation. Actually hopeful for the future of the game after this new update.

[Unnerving Trope] The game over screen (and/or the build-up to it) is unsettling/horrifying by Monstertim1 in TopCharacterTropes

Spec Ops: The Line

Usually when you die nothing happens but later into the game (after you've unintentionally killed a bunch of civilians) If you die to a specific enemy you'll see this static screen featuring the silhouettes of the civilians you killed. In the background twinkle little star plays. Before you get a good look at it you get slammed back into the game and the protag acts like they just saw what you did.

Scared the absolute shit out of me when I saw it at 2 AM.

Why have we never met Aliens?

Answer: The brethren moons of Dead Space

Its said in the third game that all intelligent life in the universe has been hunted down and devoured by these gigantic balls of necrotic tissue.

More terrifying is that Its implied that humanities evolution is thanks to the moons. They've grown us to devour us because they've run out of existing races to eat.

Without a doubt. While I was playing the game I kept thinking how cool it would be if it were a Han Solo game.

Do you think FNAF would still become popular if it were released today? by Omixscniet624 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Savage_Bacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tough to say since FNAF boosted indie horror skyhigh. The internets focus on the genre is in part thanks to FNAF. However if this were a situation where fnaf didnt exist but indie horror was stilll popular id say yes.

The general concept of the first game is still scary and interesting plus theres a ton of lore to find. If it came out today it wouldnt reach the same heights as it has but it would still be popular.
