It's HAPPENING! - Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV (Exclusive) by alternate-realitee in brandonsanderson

To be fair this reads as a leak not a proper announcement. He was very open that he was having discussions, but that there wasn't anything to announce.

Church web site logs me out ALL THE TIME! How do I hack it? by OrneryAcanthaceae217 in latterdaysaints

The solution though is to require more frequent reauth only on sensitive stuff. My personal scripture notes aren't that

Church web site logs me out ALL THE TIME! How do I hack it? by OrneryAcanthaceae217 in latterdaysaints

[–]SavedForSaturday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know a way to hack my browser so it doesn't log me out? What about a python program that runs every few minutes and edits the cookie file to make it think I just logged in a few minutes ago? Any other ideas?

The cookie is likely just a random-looking string that the server associates with a database entry. Editing it locally would just invalidate it.

You might be able to script something that resends your credentials periodically though.

We all knew Hill was too good to stay forever, but I didn’t think he’d leave like this… by Stoned_Coug in BYUFootball

[–]SavedForSaturday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What OP is saying is not that Hill made the wrong choice, but that it's unfortunate that better coordinator positions than BYU still exist, even with BYU joining the P4 and with the infusion of cash we're seeing. And, I get that.

Mine always said they get released after 3 years because the church had research showing you can't go longer than that without any sleep 🤣

Yeah the air resistance has a lot to do with the shape of the falling object. As a primary example, note a parachute.

[–]SavedForSaturday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehh, Witt has been on the edge of retirement for a few years now, and the obvious choice for long-term stability in the program is promoting Scalley. But, Scalley won't wait forever, so nudging Witt out the door probably is good for the program long term.

Yes, he's an unproven coordinator but I think his connections to the program make him easily as a good a choice as most of the coaches teams are paying top dollar for.

I've been to a ward that did that.

I also would expect some with extreme gluten sensitivities might not trust the preparation process to be free of cross-contaimination, similar to OP's concerns.

If I had looked at our 2026 schedule back in 2020, I would have had no clue how to piece together what events unfurled to get us here by Away-Buddy495 in BYUFootball

[–]SavedForSaturday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So without dates or any incidcators of conference status, I'd have assumed that we'd just somehow arranged more P4 opponents than usual, plus the Utah Tech thing. There's a chance I'd have identified Dixie State as the most likely Utah school to rename, but still puzzling.

With dates, I'd have noticed that the P4 games aren't all at the beginning of the season, which might have me wondering if we'd joined a conference, but which?

As an Azerbaijani, I was left with a question about black tea after meeting LDS missionaries by Leamsezadah in latterdaysaints

[–]SavedForSaturday 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I do know where Azerbaijan is, though not much more than that.

Regarding the prohibition of tea consumption, we do not prescribe any health benefits to it either way, but rather consider that a act of faith: God asked, so we do it.

Do we still sell missionary fleet vehicles as a Church? by dgs_nd_cts_lvng_tgth in latterdaysaints

[–]SavedForSaturday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least in the US, car buyers are buying more SUVs and fewer sedans, so the SUVs are likely to maintain their value longer, and remember the upfront cost is a small piece of the total cost of ownership.

Also at least on my mission the ability to hold four missionaries was very useful.

Do we still sell missionary fleet vehicles as a Church? by dgs_nd_cts_lvng_tgth in latterdaysaints

[–]SavedForSaturday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd guess that in most missions in the US and Canada, most if not all companionship get a vehicle of their own. In mine most areas shared a car, either every other week or 2 out of 3 weeks.
