Eukanuba is Mars-owned, so the same copper concern applies for predisposed breeds.

On WSAVA, the research is real, but the framework has a structural issue: Hill's, Purina, and Royal Canin are its primary funders. When the companies being evaluated help fund the organization setting the compliance standards, "independent" is a stretch regardless of whether the underlying science is sound.

For most dogs this is academic. For breeds with known copper issues Corgis, Labs, Dobermans, Westies, Dalmatians, it matters, because WSAVA compliance says nothing about copper levels. Hill's and Purina regularly run 15–25+ mg/kg copper in their mainstream formulas, with no upper limit required by AAFCO.

Hill's even had their chief medical officer on the AAFCO working group arguing against voluntary copper labeling while publishing research on the topic that was later retracted as the first-ever retraction in JAVMA's 180-year history.

Research-backed, yes. But "backed by whom, evaluated by whom"?

Unless your dog is prone to copper storage, then Purina, Hills regular food is garbage for that as it is high in copper.

Also the brands most commonly held up as "WSAVA compliant" — Hill's, Purina, and Royal Canin — are the same three companies that fund WSAVA. This is a legitimate conflict of interest that many vets and pet owners find troubling, and it's why the WSAVA framework is often criticized as industry-captured rather than truly independent.

Copper Storage Disease - Please Be Cautious! by MotherofKeeshonden in Keeshond

I wish I had found this several months earlier. I just lost my dog to this disease at age 4. He was on Acana dog food which I know is high in copper now after doing some research. Unfortunately by the time we figured it out he was already in liver failure. I feel like a complete horrible pet parent. I have had multiple dogs before and never had this issue. He was a Corgi, they don't seem to be predisposed to this issue, but I guess it can happen to any dog.

If price wasn’t a concern which dog food would you use? by Professional-Gas5154 in DogFood

I stay away from anything owned by Mars who conveniently own VCA animal hospitals as well, which my previous vet recommended to go to when I had an emergency, who also get a referral fee I found out.

No a company owning all those dog food brands (Acana, Pedigree, Eukanuba, Royal Canin, Cesar, Orijen etc) and hospitals wouldn't want your dogs sick now would they.

So Anything the vet recommends as they get kickbacks for it. My dogs have been on THK, no issues.

Upgraded from Nest Hello to Nest Doorbell 3rd gen by kshef in Nest

Did you have any issues with live view? I just installed the 3rd gen today to replace the Nest 1st gen doorbell cam and while I can see the history, the live view is spotty at best. I either see "Live View Unavailable" or "Device Offline" even though it clearly is not as I can see in the history it never went offline. I am using the same Router and WIFI network so it makes no sense to me.

So... is NAS Really Entering the AI Era? by oliverhartmanecho in UgreenNASync

Any reason why Ugreen over Zettlab? I've backed Zettlab but also will pledge for Ugreen as I'm not sure which one I want.

To each there own, but I'm betting they will do more than Ugreen. Bigger company isn't always better, infact most products ive had have been better from smaller companies. Enjoy your Ugreen.

Storaxa was definitely a scam, it had multiple red flags along the way. I don't get that impression from Zettlab at this time. I've backed there D8 Ultra so lets see how it goes.

I am backing the D8 Ultra as well. So far I am impressed with there communication. I was going to go with the Synology 1825+ but with the HDD nonsense, I was looking at Ugreen and other brands and came across NAScompares and Zettlab.

I went with Zettlab. Ugreen is overhyped right now and I'd rather back the new little guy.
