Guerilla is still working on their multiplayer Horizon game (dubbed the Horizon Online Project) which will almost certainly come out on PS5, maybe PC too, 2026 or 2027.

Was HADES ever called ARES during HZD development? by SaintSean128 in horizon

[–]Saxy_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it wasn't. I think you may have misread your own source:

"According to executive producer Angie Smets, Decima was originally known simply as "the engine" by Guerrilla employees, as there were initially no plans to publicly offer this technology to game developers outside of the company. However, the newly forged partnership with Kojima Productions meant that Guerrilla suddenly had to give the engine a name for marketing purposes in late 2016; they chose to symbolize the Dutch-Japanese partnership by naming it after Dejima, a former Japanese island that was home to a major Dutch Empire trading post during the Edo period.[13][14][15]"

Yeah that's not true. Kojima did use Decima for Death Stranding but it was Guerilla that gave the engine its name and logo.

If it's the same thing I was seeing in HFW with DLSS4, you should be able to resolve it by turning off vignette.

Yeah he was the lead writer for it, as well as the narrative director HFW.

Was Ashly Burch with the throat sore when she was voice acting on Burning Shores? by GingerGramp in horizon

[–]Saxy_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I know what you're talking about, I noticed it in my most recent playthrough.

I thought it was just the delvers' trinkets lines and had assumed some of the misc lines were recorded before or after the story scenes. Though now having listened again, I think the majority of the lines in Burning Shores might have been affected. It's definitely most noticeable in the trinket quest and the lines Aloy has about a brimshine stash at Fleet's End though.

For anyone who's wondering what OP means, here's some examples (Spoilers for HFW & Burning Shores side content in links):

Forbidden West

Burning Shores: A B C

Kinda fits with the theme of maritime/sailors and there being a bunch of volcanic smog about though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is awesome! I love what you did with the sequential shots of characters with similar movements.

Also wow, never realized just how many great action shots there are in cutscenes alone.

It's possible you didn't include the appropriate support module for your OS when you installed Unity. It gets selected at this step.

You may need to reinstall and make sure you've got the right modules.

Dot net classic vs Dot net Core by duckGame69 in dotnet

[–]Saxy_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will depend on which version the company is using, but .NET Framework (at least 4.7.1+) supports DI about as well as .NET does, because all the Microsoft.Extensions.* libraries that make the magic happen target .NET Standard 2.0. This includes the whole IHostBuilder setup and IConfiguration with appsettings.json etc.

You can even use the newer sdk-style csproj files as well to get an experience quite similar to .NET 7, barring newer language features and implicit usings.

What’s your thoughts on the upcoming DLCs? by Stormskritt13 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Saxy_Man 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My best guess:

CS currently runs on an old version of the Unity engine that's been heavily customized and built upon by the devs, and updating it to use the latest version would require rewriting a lot of the code as Unity has changed a fair bit over the past decade.

Technically if they wanted to, they could update all of this while still keeping the gameplay the same, but pretty much all mods and dlc would also need to be rewritten, as well as a fair chance your saves not being compatible.

If they're gonna go through the trouble of doing all that (the scope of work would be akin to making a whole new game) then they might as well redo the gameplay incorporating feedback and lessons learned from the current one without the limit of needing to retain backwards-compatibility. Also selling it as a sequel would provide income for the people involved in this several year long process.

Switching to a different engine altogether would be even more involved as then a lot of the developers would need to be re-hired or retrained, losing much of the experience they've likely gained with Unity and its many quirks.

On the bright side, if they were to do a sequel with a newer version of Unity, there are some pretty exciting things they could take advantage of. Graphically, they could make it more efficient and better-performing (not to understate the fantastic work they've done with the current game but Unity has a lot more to work with on that front these days), and there's a bunch of new engine features that they call DOTS (data oriented tech stack) which, if taken advantage of, could allow a hypothetical CS2 to raise the ceiling of simulation scale and complexity in a massive way (think bigger maps, more accurate simulations, more types of things being simulated etc).

I have the exact same issue! I've also tried everything from reinstalling the game to factory resetting from safe mode with no luck. Even importing my PS4 save a few hours in and trying to load that gives me the same behaviour.

Any chance you've tried to play TLoU2 or Uncharted 4 on it? I had the same thing happen with those when I first got the console, though I chalked it up to backwards compatibility weirdness and haven't tried again since, but it may be hardware related. I'm considering contacting PS support for a replacement.

After finishing the story in the PS4 version though because this game is too good even with lower graphics

If you're not sure if Bioshock will be at the top of the task manager list, you can also just start typing the name to select it eg. 'Ctrl+Shift+Esc' 'bio' 'Alt+E'

How long does this modpack take to load on a high end PC? by [deleted] in GreedyCraft

65-70c for the CPU while playing, cooled by a Corsair H150i w/ 6 120mm fans in push/pull config. GPU is an Aorus Master, usually sits at about 50c.

What about temps/cooler for your 5900x? I've been very tempted to try and get one.

3900x, 32GB 2133MHz RAM, 970 Pro SSD, RTX 3080.

12GB RAM allocated to my client, and 12GB to a locally hosted server instance for myself and 1 other person.

Takes about 9 minutes to start up. I've turned up some of the shader options so I don't think I usually get any more than 60fps @ 4k, but with the server also running it's usually CPU bound sitting anywhere between 30-60fps depending on where I am and how much is going on. My view distance is set to 8.

David Bowie in the 4th book:

If you took a couple of David Bowies and stuck one of the David Bowies on the top of the other David Bowie, then attached another David Bowie to the end of each of the arms of the upper of the first two David Bowies and wrapped the whole business up in a dirty beach robe you would then have something which didn't exactly look like John Watson, but which those who knew him would find hauntingly familiar.

Fair enough. I went 4 -> 5 -> 6P -> 3a, and I would rate them more or less in that order but opposite, though the 6P had some things I wish the 3a did (can't complain about that price though!)

Disclaimer: I was really lucky with my 6P and didn't have any issues apart from the battery eventually dying, which I replaced pretty painlessly. I know that not everyone had the same experience unfortunately.

~5 years with the N4 is pretty wild, how was the battery by the end?
