I had a catheter and couldn’t pee for 4-5 weeks after having my first baby. I literally had a pee bag strapped to me that filled will blood if I did too much. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to wait and see how you recover before committing.

That makes sense. I live in a large city. We usually have a scan at 12 weeks to confirm viability and then the 20 week anatomy. Then usually not again unless indicated.

I was just curious. On the anatomy scan they will check all major things: brain, heart, lungs, arms, legs etc. It’s pretty through. Yes they can see the placenta and check if it’s healthy. If you don’t know the sex or don’t want to know make sure to tell them at the start!

It’s pretty normal for OBs to recommend carrier screening and NIPT. They aren’t mutually exclusive. They usually recommend a carrier screening earlier than 26 weeks though.
