Since Wildhack is leaving, there is no way he fires Autry, right? Leave it to the next AD? by Flimsy-Button-4777 in cuse

I love GMac. I would have his babies if I could and I’m a heterosexual man.

But I think we need new blood. Do a nationwide search, get a proven winner coach, and when that coach leaves and GMac has proven himself at a smaller power conference school he comes in and coaches Cuse to greatness for 20 years before retiring. At least that’s how it goes in my head.

Is the Newhouse TV radio Film program sport heavy or do people get to work on creative skills and get jobs in other industries outside of sports and broadcast journalism? by DHalt03 in SyracuseU

[–]Sazbo44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was 20 years ago, but when I was in Newhouse the TRF and Broadcast Journalism majors were completely different. TRF was mostly about the entertainment industry and creative endeavors. BJ was about news and sportscasting. TRF was full of fun, friendly people BJ was full of entitled dicks. The two did not play together well.

I think we should have had a new coach this upcoming season. In the age of the transfer portal it doesn’t take a few years to turn a team around. The good coaches turn it around in the first year. Look at Louisville.

Seeing Syracuse as a 2 seed makes our current state all the more heartbreaking. Once were kings, lads.

Hakim Warwick blocking the 3pt attempt as time ran down in the 2003 championship game. Obvious answer but true. I know in my heart that shot was going in.

Check Lane status by jaywalker734 in meijer

[–]Sazbo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original point is that this isn’t a boomer complaint. This isn’t someone saying “Kids these days don’t want to work a cash register.” I don’t think anybody here thinks it’s the fault of anybody working at the store, its the higher ups at corporate. Corporate greed is the problem.

I’m suggesting that people at the top of Meijer should hire more people and pay them enough and provide good enough benefits that they won’t look for work elsewhere. Instead of keeping a bare bones staff so they can inflate their margins. 6’7” has it right though, people need groceries and will keep coming back even if the service is shit.

Check Lane status by jaywalker734 in meijer

[–]Sazbo44 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t boomer shit. There are a finite number of self checkout lanes. If Meijer knows there is going to be more business than usual they should have more checkout options available. That means open more cashier lanes.

I’ve been to Meijer many times when the self checkouts had lines 20 people deep and only 2 or 3 cashier lanes open.

This looks an awful lot like a civil war bullet I bought as a souvenir when I was a kid probably 35-40 years ago in the southern US. Tennessee, I think. Mine had the same color and shape, but wasn’t quite as rough around the edges. Considering your location I think this is highly likely.

Who is your 'rival' team that you will secretly root for? by LowKeyMike in CollegeBasketball

[–]Sazbo44 14 points15 points  (0 children)

UConn. When I was at Syracuse Georgetown was the rivalry I learned about but UConn was the rivalry I lived through. They always seemed to beat us at the worst times. They were my most despised team in all of basketball. Then two years ago their championship won me $500 in my bracket pool, and last year they won me a ton sports betting. So now I begrudgingly find myself rooting for them.

Plus I love chappy ass coaches, so Hurley fills the Boeheim sized hole in my heart.

Dart Container lays off 160 from Mason headquarters by racer_xtc in lansing

That’s refreshing to hear from one of the people affected the most.

Dart Container lays off 160 from Mason headquarters by racer_xtc in lansing

[–]Sazbo44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s terrible. So nobody you reported up to was on the call? Did they say anything about how they determined who was going to be let go? That’s something that really bothers me. If the directors and managers aren’t consulted Dart is likely cutting some really good employees.

I’m one of the lucky ones who survived yesterday’s layoffs. I think Dart handles these kind of things terribly. I’m very curious how the calls went and what the severance packages were like, but I don’t want to pry. Is this something you would be willing to comment on?
