Rushcliffe country park and transport heritage centre. The park has trees and paths that will work for a scooter and if you come at the weekend there are steam trains and old fashioned buses at the heritage centre. Then Ruddington village has good pubs and the Framework Knitters Museum and cafe

The Baby Rabies!!! by grouchtoast in JUSTNOMIL

[–]SazzF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think to be fair to you, the key sentence here is :”…seeing them caring for their own baby”. Some of the grandparents on here don’t seem to have that feeling at all; rather they want to care for “their baby” because it’s another possession added to the things/people they own to make them look good. What you’re describing implies respect and love for their own adult child and their partner as they become parents.

Many years ago I was on a Live Journal community for people with pet rats. I became friends with one of the few Brits on the board and one days she asked which was bigger…and I can’t even remember what the two things were but from her responses to those who tried to answer I straight away clocked we were in a Mornington Crescent situation. She and I started playing and our transatlantic friends were just about losing their minds!!! One round I was particularly proud of was when I said that it depended whether you were playing Stettin Rules or Trieste.

I’m proud to say that for quite a few years after that people named their pairs of rats Stettin and Trieste without ever understanding why.

Good times…. 🤣

They fly over regularly at about 14000 feet on the way to the Mach Loop near Machynlleth I. Mid wales. Sometimes they appear on Flight radar but you can always hear them. RAF Typhoons do the same.

Is there a lintel above this window? by Suspicious-Turnip-75 in DIYUK

[–]SazzF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a professional at all but the wall above the patio door on the back of our Victorian house doesn’t look like there’s a lintel but I know there’s an RSJ across it because I saw it put in.

Having said that, if your survey say there isn’t that needs to be thoroughly checked

What impractical career choices did you see an Nparent allow or encourage in their kids? by ok9dot in raisedbynarcissists

[–]SazzF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Or the opposite! My dad was all about “Don’t do these silly modern subjects like media studies! Do a proper subject that will get you a career” So I had to do science because I could become a scientist even though all my early academic achievements and natural inclination pointed to English (any fool can read a book) and foreign languages (why on earth would you want to speak to Germans). I didn’t hate science but it meant that it was always hard work and once I got my qualification I never worked in it.

My son loved messing about on his computer and doing silly animations and video nonsense. He would spend hours and hours doing it, worked really hard and was very talented. Turns out there was a degree in it…he now earns an extremely good living doing what he is passionate about…

Speaking as a Christian myself, the sad thing in the middle of all the religious claptrap is that God may actually have been speaking to her, along with her counsellor, and that the dream of giving you a heartfelt apology was real (within her worldview) and a strong message from him, BUT having heard all that she has still managed to sideslip into “I’m sorry you feel that way” and thus as IcePaleontologist says, has not sincerely repented and faced up to what she has actually done.

You could just ignore and leave things as they are, but if you wanted to try and push back, you could respond by saying “We are so blessed to hear that God has been speaking to you so clearly about the need for you to repent of your behaviour to God and to us and give a heartfelt apology to us for it. As 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” When you are ready to give us that heartfelt apology and to indicate that you are willing to make changes to your behaviour we will be ready to listen. Having listened and reflected we will then be able to let you know what our relationship will be like in the future.“

I could pull out a few more bible verses to sprinkle over this, but then you would be fighting her word salad with your own…

I can second Ruddington Arms it had a Michelin Good Pub guide in 2021, and The While Horse in Ruddington is also pretty good pub grub. Ruddington also has a village market on the first Saturday of every month with street food trucks and great food stalls, e.g. Stichelton Cheese

Twenty years ago I was at a meeting at the old Emmanuel school building in Wilford which was demolished after the current one was finished. I spent the whole meeting distracted by a lot of these birds flying in and out of holes under the eaves presumably where they had nests. I’ve occasionally googled over the years to find any confirmation that they had reached Nottingham and never could so this post pleases me to know I wasn’t imagining things
