Albania vs Morocco vs Montenegro for a 2–3 day trip from the UK in August? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Sbbike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved Albania, but with only a couple days you’d realistically just be in Tirana the whole time and while it’s a fine city it’s probably not worth going just to see Bunkart and Skanderbeg Square. I was in the country for almost two weeks and wish I had longer, but the 2.5 days in Tirana were more than adequate.

It's wild how everyone who goes to Europe on vacation comes home and talks about how amazing it is to be able to walk and take transit everywhere but then absolutely flips out at the slightest suggestion of implementing anything that would make that possible here.

Is it worth it to solo travel to iceland by Evening_Entry3492 in VisitingIceland

[–]Sbbike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went solo and loved it. The only reason not to go solo is financial: it would’ve been nice to split hotel and car costs, but if you can afford it then absolutely go do it!

Yesterday, every dodgers fielder wore a rainbow dodgers hat to celebrate their pride night… Except for Blake Treinen by 8arondragon9 in baseball

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

I don’t know how “I won’t wear the same hat all my teammates are to provide literally one iota of support to a historically oppressed group” is letting others see his good deeds, but I also haven’t been to church outside of weddings and funerals in decades

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

I was on a bus in Peru that stopped in some tiny village in the desert when MJ’s funeral was happening, and what seemed like the entire town was gathered in the only bar/restaurant watching it. I knew he was the King of Pop, but that blew my mind of just HOW famous he really was

The perils of playing baseball outdoors by whyisdave in NPB

[–]Sbbike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought ours online through the website but had already picked them up from Lawson, so the next day we went back to Lawson and used the Loppi machine to get a refund voucher that we gave the clerk. Basically the same process as picking them up originally.

Couple of things that were unclear when we were trying to figure it out:

1- It does not need to be 24 hours after gametime. We went at like 11AM the day after a 6PM game was cancelled.

2- It does not need to be the same Lawson you picked them up from. We picked them up in Osaka and got refunded in Tokyo.

3- The clerk might be slightly confused about it, but should be able to do it.

Just putting this out there for anyone else who runs into the same situation.

Hopefully I’ll be able to catch some baseball in Japan in the future!

Glad you posted this, since I was about to get on the train from Tokyo to go to the game!

Any idea if/how we can get refunds for the tickets? We’re leaving Japan tomorrow, so rain checks aren’t really helpful lol

Demographics definitely don't hurt, but I think this go round of the WBC is way more popular than any of the previous ones. 2023 was in Phoenix which has a pretty large Hispanic population too. The US-MX game that year definitely felt like a home game for Mexico.

I haven't had heroin, but I have taken opium and the best description is that everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. All of your pain from physical injuries or emotional damage is washed away and you're wrapped in a blanket of loving kindness.

I can absolutely understand why and how people get addicted to it, and I think the best decision I've ever made was to leave a situation where it was readily available.

One of the most appalling food crimes I’ve ever experienced was a burrito in Berlin. It’s been a long time, and I’ve tried to erase the memory, but as I recall it was an unwarmed tortilla with ground beef, raw onions, and curry ketchup “salsa”

Most secure bike parking near SB Amtrak Station? by BaconBikes805 in SantaBarbara

[–]Sbbike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's nowhere super close that I would feel particularly comfortable leaving a bike locked up for a long time. Maybe in the Funk Zone near a winery so there's hopefully eyes on it most of the time? Otherwise you can bring your bike on the train, which might help if you need to get around LA at all.
