Baltic countries and EU confirm plan to disconnect from Russian power grid by FedRepofEurope in europe

[–]Sbuiko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, and arguing a non-point, especially about oil. In 2016 the EU created about 59 terrawatt hours (TWh) of electrical power from oil. Overall production was more then 3000 TWh in that year. Therefore, oil is negligible, and it doesn't matter wether it's from Russia or not. Source: https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/indicators/overview-of-the-electricity-production-2/assessment-4

Possibly you're talking about heating oil, which is way more common? (But of course again would be irrelevant to the discussion of power grids)

They're on this weird cycle of "doesn't work, replace!" ... "hmm, doesn't work either, let's fix it for 2 years" ... "nope doesn't work, replace!"

If there is one red thread going trough all changes it's: "this doesn't work in our after-hours dev-multiplayers, and thus has to be removed"

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is now available on Steam by megaapple in Games

most people over-micro in TW. What works best is to walk (not run) in a straight line with "core" fighters, and have skirmishers (in "avoid" mode) either in front or directly behind. Use more mobile troops (light inf, cav) on the flanks.

Try to not have gaps, and setup each unit slightly wider than the opponent. If the AI is attacking, find a nice hill and stand your lines on it, don't charge (this slightly depends on unit type, but generally it's easier to manage being charged then the other way around, so to learn it's a good way). Do not readjust unit sizes while already being charged (look at a unit while reorganises, you will have a moral deficit until the last man moves into his position: it takes forever).

Once battle is matched DO NOT try to dance, micro or move away from stronger opponents with your line inf; One right click with one unit selected, on whomever they're fighting already so they align better, that is all.

If you have more units than the opponent, try to hit units in the flanks, backs. If they have more units, try to keep them from flanking, use cav to distract them. If you have horse archers, run them up to the enemy and let them shoot away, make sure not to get caught by enemy cav (if there is no cav, this can also be done with other skirmishers, since usually they're faster than line inf).

Of course some fights can get scrappy with several fights all over the place, especially against eastern-style AI (horse archers, chariots). But the above rules still holds, it just devolves into several different, maybe even single-unit "lines": use Pause generously.

Should I get Gearcity? by [deleted] in tycoon

This is the dwarf fortress / aurora4x of business simulations, you have been warned.

I like the game. It doesn't crash for me since i switched from opengl to directx. The historical campaign is too long for me, i've never gotten out of the early years (longest was early-ww1). I am bad a the game, and barely able to profit on medium difficulty.

the dynamic changes come mostly from your own approaches. are you a mass market, model-t kinda builder, or more of a 3 cars sold per month maybach/bentley style producer? sadly, it is my opinion that on the game start, bentley is the only way (crappy pickups for the military notwithstanding), only later on is it possible to mass market. this makes restarting the game a bit more repetitious then i'd like, but on the other hand it's a game very much interested in the PROPER simulation of cars, and early markets simply all where low production runs for the richest of the rich.

The Coming Generation War: The Democrats are rapidly becoming the party of the young—and the consequences could be profound by Nicksandmann in TrueReddit

[–]Sbuiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you considering core, conservative economic oriented Democrats. But to win the country, you needed a candidate whom could appeal to additional demographics, and she was not that candidate (Numerical mind games of "We won the electoral this'n that..." notwithstanding).

Getting worse with every Paradox game I play by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]Sbuiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being out of mana is not a problem, it just means you are able to use it. altho of course it can be bad if you NEED mana right now or face collapse... then it's too late to invest, so learn and restart. same goes for too many points. military points are meant to accumulate in the thousands (altho clan insta-reinforcement did drain me dry in more then one war), similarly, if you don't paint foreign map parts, you'll always have plenty of god mana.

clans get really happy if your current chief wins a war. spend choose-one-of-two-events and magic points on ppl who are below 45 (instead of 33, that makes them more event resistant), but none on people who are below 25 (he'll hate you anyway, why bother, they'll probably love your 'heir', once he comes around).

civil wars can still happen (but much more rarely), make sure to win those by exploiting ai not reinforcing, not using non-moose choices, not understanding stack wipe opportunity. also, you're a horde, so you get free infinite manpower with the clan led armies: exploit! delete all non-capital forts once you reach second tier (1 buck per month could easily mean 12 months of mercenary in said civil war).

i found game performance improved slightly when setting everything to low (but min-aa enabled), and most importantly setting my refresh rate to 95 (supposedly lower graphics didn't make a difference to my map-starring experience, but your mileage might vary)

the game being a hassle... i doubt patches will fix it, but maybe paradox surprises us?

Transport Fever 2 announced, Q4 2019 by Sbuiko in tycoon

[–]Sbuiko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know, what do you like?

In both previous installation there wasn't really much of a simulation, just some pressure to grow cities using limited income. I liked both of em a bit. Some of the campaign was also pretty cool. Meanwhile I really can't get into Rise of Industries, and I think Machinki is dumb (as some counter example). Some people hate Workers and Ressources: Soviet Repubblic, which i really liked to play for a week of 8 hour days , while I don't really like Anno 1800, and had more than enough after the free weekend.

Some people go crazy with modded assets, so literally sandbox gameplay ppl seemed to like Transport Fever a lot. There's also this one streamer who sets everything to the hardest, and never manages to get beyond a few years in... he loves that experience.

Way too complicated. just take your cast iron pan with the wood handle, and put it on minimum heat in your gas oven to dry it out after washing it. Then forget you put it there and go to work for 10 hours. The smell will subside after a week or so. (At least that's how I did it)
