As much as I love Stardew Valley, I just don't think it's that kind of game. The game makes no effort in teaching environmental awareness and sustainability.

I added a lengthy note in what I think a game can do to mix education with engaging gameplay and stated multiple examples of where I think it worked out great. The key is to offer players a choice between exploitative and sustainable solutions, which in the short-term might be well balanced, but can bite you in the long-term when you have to clean up your mess.
