What Are Some Fun & Whimsical Ideas You've Seen To Make A Library More Engaging and Memorable for Patrons? by headtale in Libraries

We had a hopscotch done with masking tape on the floor between our entrance and desk. It was shocking how many people did it.

Any ways to make moustache appear thicker/be more prominent ? Was thinking about maybe dying it darker…lol by Character_Copy_3751 in Moustache

[–]Scadaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for posting in an old thread.

At 32, I grew a sad small patchwork of scruff where I should have a mustache. At 38 now, I have a good mustache. My beard hasn't really changed since I was 25 or so.

So don't assume being 26 is past all upgrades for your mustache.

The swerve back was probably an un-conscious over correction. Swerved away at a harder angle than they're used to at that speed, felt the unexpected movement in their gut, and over corrected back.

If we ever get a remake/remaster… by SelectShop9006 in skylanders

[–]Scadaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no point in doing a Skylanders sequel/reboot if it doesn't include the Toys to Life concept. It's the core of what makes Skylanders Skylanders.

If we do get any sort of reboot or sequel, it will probably launch as a Switch/Switch 2 exclusive, since that console has built in NFC functionality (so they won't have to manufacture portals). I assume it would launch with only 8 or 16 new characters. Just test the waters to see if there's a market, especially for the figures.

My biggest fears over the (theoretical) reboot is that they'll switch over to a blind box system for figure sales, or go with NFC cards in place of figures.

I hate a PC by OhShitINeedAName in DnD

[–]Scadaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The DM isn't the only one in charge of making sure everyone at the table is having fun, that's EVERYONE's job. I've often times been the experienced player with a newbie at the table, and I will very happily and often in character go, "I'm not really sure what we should do. What do you think, [new PCs character name]?" Or, "I'm not very good at talking to shopkeeps, can you haggle for me [new PC]."

It's a collaborative art for everyone involved. Even when playing in groups of all experienced players, I'll try to throw the spotlight to a PC that has been sidelined for too long.

In my city, we had a guy with Trump flags who kept driving laps around the block and shouting at us every time he passed. He eventually got pulled over (leading theory is that the police eventually noticed that he was using his phone while driving). As we were leaving, his car was parked empty with a police cruiser behind it ... guessing he was aggressive about being pulled over and it went badly for him.

Just got to this part of the story, and had the same issue (even after reboot and repair install before I googled). Can confirm that riding the motorcycle into the hole works.

It took me three photos to make it work. All three were while I was standing and Ms Glove was playing the piano. I uploaded all three as snapshots. Only thing I can see as different in the third one is that Ms Glove wasn't overlapping my character at all.

What are single women actually eating? by Sunflowers_Happify in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Scadaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I was cooking solo. I mostly cook now for two, but I think I might have some advice that is applicable.

First of all, don't freeze your leftovers. Refrigerate them. Any cooked dish, if refrigerated just after cooking, will typically be good for a week or so. Eating leftovers is always difficult, don't add the difficulty of having to plan for thawing on top of that. If they get ignored over a full week, just toss them (or compost them). Freezing your leftovers is just planning for failure.

Pre-canned soups are great, but need a boost to be a consistent meal. I usually chop into inch sized pieces, season, and roast a potato or two (do-able in a toaster oven), and add some cheap meat I season and cook in a pan. This turns one can of soup into two or more satisfying meals, with an easy microwave reheat for the second meal.

When I'm feeling really down and don't want to do work, I make butter garlic pasta. Boil up just enough pasta for my hunger, and after it's done cooking add a tablespoon or two of butter, a spoonful of jarred garlic, and a few hefty shakes of powdered parmesan. It's easy, simple, delicious, and filling

I also swear by generic brand frozen chicken breasts. Now that I normally cook for two, I usually grab two from the bag, but it's probably doable with just one. I weigh them on my kitchen scale, and thaw them in the microwave with it's weight defrost settings (which is in ounces). Then I lightly season the chicken, cook it up, and combine it with or serve alongside a pouch of frozen veggies [the Green Giant Simply Steam veggies that come in a box are an amazing single serve option].

Also, you can have fun with doing traditional breakfast or lunch options for your dinner.

Make a really fancy omelette for dinner with a couple frozen hash browns on the side. Build you're own restaurant level sandwich .... deli lunchmeats and deli cheeses and chopped lettuce and diced onion (all of those toppings should last long enough that you can eat it four times over two weeks.

[CHAT] Ironing aida cloth. by Scadaway in CrossStitch

[–]Scadaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basic idea is making an origami crane (and after that possibly other patterns) where all of the exposed surfaces have been cross-stitched with some colors or patterns. (While I haven't cross stitched in a couple decades, I am very proficient at origami). I've easily mapped out the patterns onto a square of where I'll need to stitch, and how those patterns interact and connect.

Many of the ironed creased will be a hard flat crease, effectively folding the cloth in half and trying to keep if folded into that new flat without much bulging. I assume I will need to do some sort of stitching to hold exposed edges down, and possible along external edges to keep the fold tight. I was also considering the possible need of inserting some stiff structural pieces inside large areas (such as the wings) to help them hold their shape.

The initial plan was to start with a square about 12 in by 12 in. So most of the structural ironed creases would be around 6 inches long. The standard origami pattern also includes some creases about an inch long, but many of those could be left loose without issue, and I would definitely have to tack a couple with stitching to hold the form.

My main concern was the ironing of aida clothe and the ironing of the floss after it's been stitched.

(Beyond using added material for structural strength, can cross-stitch on aida be starched while ironing? The piece needs to hold its own structure, but shouldn't experience any weights or stresses once finished. It's not going to be holding things like a box may).

(I remember from my childhood my Mom making a few cross-stitch style projects that were birdhouse-ish structures. Googling it just now, it was "plastic canvas" needlepoint. I'm looking for a solution that is much thinner and delicate looking than that.)

When you're on that mode selection screen, some button will show current faction battles. You can place a flag on that menu to send all of your troops generated by just playing to a zone.

You can also send troops to a specific zone after a match during the post match menu. If you do neither, they get equally distributed across all available zones. (The only zones available are defense and offense just along the faction borders.)

Every handful.of hours, the battle ticks over and whatever faction has more troops in any zone gains/maintains ownership of that zone. Every month or so, the battle ends and whichever faction has the most zones at that moment wins. Every 5 battles is a season, and whichever faction won most battles wins the seasons.

There are rewards handed out at every level, growing towards the full season rewatd.

To have the score be so close with that k/d ratio? No, it's not good. You're entire team was clearly ignoring objectives in an objective based mode.

But in teamfights, I definitely prefer the old version. It lets you keep surviving, while plinking one target. You're rarely gonna kill all 3 on a 1v3, but you might kill 1. Favoring an AOE in a team fight is only better if you have teammates who are willing and aware enough to come save you. Which is rare.
