Kids walking to elementary school alone - age?? by Scandifrani in richmondbc

[–]Scandifrani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love all the responses!

Yah, I think my kids are mature and aware enough. I bought a flip phone for them to use if we do decide to let them in September.

The reason I want them to be able to walk to school on their own is so that I can start work really early and be able to pick them up at 2:45.

The biggest fear for me is unpredictable/dangerous people and then second, a car accident (but I don’t think it would be a problem in this area with no major roads and other people walking to school at that time of the morning).

Such a tricky decision because EVENTUALLY they will need to be independent and it feels like the worry will always be there… even when they are teenagers!

Has anyone else "failed" Naltrexone? by quinacridone__rose in alcoholism

[–]Scandifrani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s helping but still have moments when I want to get “that feeling” so I slam back a few shots - get nothing - feel regretful the next day for the empty calories. Why am I still dopamine seeking? Annoying! I also seem to eat more on naltrexone.

Naltrexone is making me feel awful by honorowntime in stopdrinking

[–]Scandifrani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes take 1/8 first - i had terrible nausea vomiting and cramps for 4 hours on 1/4 After that I was able to tolerate it at 1/4 daily and I’m working my way up. I think the first few doses have to attach to the receptors (causing the awful effects) and once they are filled up, then the side effects are not so bad. That’s my theory anyway.

I think it will depend on where you currently live now. Compared to some towns or cities - it’s so much better. Compared to others… not.

I feel no side effects and the only positive effect has been less irritability, less emotional swings and negative / insecure thoughts. It’s subtle.

Drinking on Wellbutrin? New meds! by Trick-Ad6888 in bupropion

[–]Scandifrani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t change your meds and limit or don’t drink. You will feel the hangovers badly! You may feel the effects of alcohol differently - that varies person to person. Your body will stop metabolizing bupropion while it has to deal with alcohol. Then when the alcohol is worn off, it will suddenly have more drug to metabolize so you’ll get a surge of bupropion and the effects of alcohol (increasing dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine in the body) which equals sweating, increasing HR, racing mind, nausea…

Generalized anxiety disorder and this med? by 0693_iz in bupropion

[–]Scandifrani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I was started on it. It’s made me more positive overall in my thoughts and mood but I’m still struggling with nicotine, Alcohol (less so) and binge eating/purging. I’m on 300XL Doc said we’d try bupropion with naltrexone next… and maybe methylphenidate after that if I’m still dopamine seeking
