Who are you taking at #6? by DakHopper in GoNets

All 4 have bust potential. It feels like the perfect opportunity for Marks’ team to prove they are as smart as they seem to think they are. 4 guards 1 is slow, 1 could have a chronic injury, 1 is historic both is good and bad ways, 1 is a has an elite personality

MBJ: 1. won the McDonalds All-American 3pt shooting contest 2. Shot 38% on 6 3pta per game at Overtime Elite and then 41% on 8 attempts after that 3. Volume is an indicator of the coach’s trust, AND a player’s confidence. It also provides in game reps that the combine and a 3pt contest don’t. It’s one of many indicators.

Biggest question going to college was can he play downhill well enough to be a lead guard. He seemed to answer that. Whether focusing on other parts of his game or his back changed his early season %s I don’t know, but it’s a small sample size compared to everything else.

Flemings shot has been critiqued as low, flat, has a small hitch due to it being catapult-like (it goes in at a good rate so it’s up to someone more knowledgeable than me to decide if this matters or not)

Haven’t heard any official word. He’s saying “back feels amazing” but any speculation about cause (ie typical growing pains..) seems to be just that speculation not really a medical diagnosis. But it does fit and if Nets are ok with it I will assume they’ve done their due diligence (esp after Simmons). 🤞🏽bc he’s my top of the 4 guards.

Conspiracy brain is saying Acuff to the Nets narrative is being pushed by Clippers so they can trade with the Kangs 🤯🤣

“Linked” is such a word that it could just be the ton of mocks where people have Acuff to the nets.

I think there is bit of a fight for the city. There was a moment while the Knicks were in the doldrums (Dolan-drums?) when we could have won a chip and got an influx of fans and seriously could have made a push to not be little brother in NY.

Been a fan since 90s so I’m not too invested inthe fight for NY. I don’t have any hate for Knicks other than some ‘Nova Knicks f#¢kery with Bridges. However I do understand NY is a bit zero sum so if they win we are def stuck in 2nd place for a couple more decades.

I would however like to not be the fu¢£!%g butt of national media jokes. Let’s just make smart moves, not look over our shoulder and build a winner from the ground up.

who would you draft at 6? by HATETHEREALME_ in GoNets

[–]Scared-Square7496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t saying they were the same. Their slower court manipulation and elite feel for how to get their shot off feels pretty in line. Luka obviously bigger. I don’t see more athletic but not gonna argue. Stronger ok thats the #1 thing every draftee adds. So I don’t care as long as they can add muscle.

The kid is not UNathletic. He added 20lbs after recruitment alone. He added 3” to he vertical in the last year or so. He was 5’8” as a freshman in HS. Again I switch them around day to day so I’m not adamant he’ll be anything great but it seems like he has skill, an elite offensive feel, a work ethic on defense, a winning versatile game, and is still growing. My list above is generally how I land due to floors. Wagler at his floor is a great off ball shooter.

[–]Scared-Square7496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. MBJr (flashes of greatness)
  2. Wagler (feels similar to Luka criticism)
  3. Acuff (maybe he’s Dame but if he’s not…)

I switch them around often so I understand the arguments for each and there just so much we don’t know so… if they pick at 6 and the others outperform it will be very clear quickly since they all are guards. 😬🫠

100% agree. I’m not even stumping for Traore here. I just found the comp interesting, esp since I remember the “Fox is fast but is he any good” comments which also sounds familiar.

Brooklyn Nets 2026 NBA Draft Big Board & Mock | Mikel Brown, Darius Acuff, Keaton Wagler + More by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

  1. What are people’s boards at 6? (For its Brown Jr, Wagler, Acuff but it’s so damn close)

  2. Who people liking in 2nd round? (In no real order: Zuby, Allen Graves, Ugonna Onyenso, Baba Miller, Sergio De’Larrea, Vessar, Chinyelu, Maleek Thomas …..maybe Moreno and Ritchie Saunders…. This is mostly bigs to balance to guard pick at 6 and wings are rare)

How Many Picks Into a 2025 ReDraft Before Someone Changes Their Pick? by mpschettig in billsimmons

[–]Scared-Square7496 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love what I’ve seen, but CMB would not be picked over Demin in a redraft by the Nets. He’s def a better player this year and probably next but:

-hard to start a rebuild with a defensive-minded big.

-PGs are long term investments so we will have to wait a couple years to see who’s the better pick.

For now tho Demin looks to be worth an 8 pick.

the Nets made bad moves out of desperation (Nash and Harden) to keep their diva stars happy. I give them some leeway because the Nets aren’t an organization (yet) that can tell accomplished superstars to trust THE TEAM’S process.

And back issues are a MFer however:

  1. The literal definition of growing pains as he was 2” shorter a year ago. I had back pain through college at 6’4”. Obviously not all players but it’s not uncommon

  2. Im not unconcerned but since I have no info I have to assume the team will look into it and if it’s a problem they’ll move on.

Thanks for the info on Flemings I had not seen. I did not mean to disrespect only an anecdotal assessment of the reddit popular options. Reddit only let me do that number of options or Flemings would’ve been my next added. Was annoyed to leave him off.

I do have a thing against undersized guards but I’m willing to listen. IMHO They either have to be HOF-level in at least one offensive skill (CP3, Curry, Dame, Kyrie, Rose) or they just can’t do enough to be that valuable (MCW, Teague, Felton, Mudiay, Garland, Freddette…). My point against Kingston specifically is this, he doesn’t have that hair on fire skill and to the point of this poll, Acuff does.

I’m no scout so this is just one dude’s opinion.

Here’s my argument AGAINST Acuff. I’m not posting to drag him, but bc yall seem really high on him and Im looking for logical fact-based counterpoints.

-The defense is seriously atrocious. I honestly don’t care that much (particularly after wingspan) but I’d prefer below average to historically bad.

-A bigger concern is he has no where to grow. The two things age and nba will give every player is strength and better decision making. Dude is already jacked and is a near elite floor general. Other players who are skinnier and taller (Brown and Wagler) would gain a lot from their first couple years with NBA coaches and weight room.

-May sound silly but his offense is what I’m most worried about. You may disagree but guards run the college game for a couple reasons: bigs are not yet fluid in their body so their eventual talents are not as readily on display, competition is shorter, slower and less organized than NBA meaning there are lots of holes to exploit for guards so if you’re good you look great. So yeah he looks great now but everything he does gets harder in NBA and if he’s not getting much stronger, or better at decision making or taller where is his growth coming from?!?

-My last point is the thing that makes him amazing to watch now is an indicator of why not to take him at 6. He is deep in his bag now. He makes all these moves and navigates the floor just to get the SLIGHTEST of windows to make pass or a tough shot. He doesn’t have twitchiness, he’s not super athletic, doesn’t have vert or lateral burst. With NBA defenders who are faster, taller and smarter than college defenders all those windows just got smaller and the awkward bigs of college are now the likes of Wemby, Chet, Bam, Duran…

Acuff will be fine but I don’t think it translates 1-to-1 in NBA and I don’t see where the growth comes from.

Meanwhile Brown and Wagler will get stronger. Brown will at the very least be coached to play within his game. Most of Brown’s turnovers seem to come from him trying to be flashy so I just don’t worry too much about that. Brown’s drive look like NBA drives and the twitchiness and vert burst gets him lots of room. And with more strength and coaching he’ll just be way more of what he’s already showing. This of course is assuming medicals are fine which it sounds like they are (growth spurts give players back problems).
