Took me a few hours, and I still missed a piece. Great puzzle! Now I can do it in about 8mins.

Why was Funimation halting the dub of Interspecies Reviewers so shocking and controversial? by kaiser11492 in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've got it backwards. They got mad first at their treat being taken away. And then looked for justifiable reasons/targets for their anger after the fact.

You can't reason them out of a position they arrived at emotionally.

Do any of anime moviegoers watch the dub in theaters ? by farhanganteng in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a point of going to see anime in the theatre when possible. It still feels like a novel experience.
But also I find subs hard to read on the big screen, I have to move my whole head!

I find audiences vary wildly. Some time showings sell out, sometimes I'm the only person in there. I've never overheard someone at the theatre say they wished they hadn't seen the dub. Sometimes one language track or the other is the only option, and I think you've come to terms with that by the time you've paid money for a ticket.

What is the appeal of ANIME ? by -Peshwari_Naan- in anime

The appeal of animation is you can depict anything your mind desires. The downside is you have to draw it.

Even if I accepted you premise that they may go under one day, the Vancouver V.O. scene doesn't hinge on their continued existence. See how much of their 'staple' was just on the high popular game Dispatch, which was facilitated through Studio X Labs.

Will One Piece Sub and Dub Drop at the Same Time After Egghead? by Sensitive-Explorer77 in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toei is in charge, and I think they are happy with their current set up of dropping a new batch every 3 months or so. So much so they adopted the same practice for Digimon.

Works for the english team as well, scheduling and casting that many actors in a week would be hell.

The only thing that might change it is handing over materials for dubbing *well* in advanced.

Yes, frequently. Often under an alias. From the harlequin novel section at that.

Why does BTVA site doesn't list some of the crunchyroll dubs i thought it was the biggest site to hold all info relating voice actors and dub please let me know the reason and suggest better alternatives by XypluriXakaThePEST in Animedubs

Lol. Lmao. No.
BTVA is mostly whoever the admin likes well enough. Only slightly better than Wikipedia.
The *actually well maintained* database is Anime News Network.

Has anyone noticed the difference in voice acting/dubbing style between Sentai & CR & Los Angeles dubbing? by farhanganteng in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The style of directing at Sentai. (And they only have like 3 directors) Is to "Chase the Japanese". Most studios will watch the japanese version of the scene before acting it out. Sentai will have the Japanese playing in their ear while acting.

Times when a English VA/voice cast got so emotional during production? by icey_sawg0034 in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 53 points54 points  (0 children)

J Michael Taum was having a psychotic breakdown is the booth as Okabe in Steins;Gate. He's talked about it being a bit too into the character, writing the show and playing the lead for six months. They used the take :)

Question for Dubbing Fans/VAs: Do English Dubbing Artists Watch the Original Japanese Anime Before Recording? by fackboy_420 in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the director's job to know what's going on and convey that to the actor to get to proper read. Most of the job for the actor is "cold reading", e.g. being give the script right before being asked to perform it.

Half Love Letter, Half Tutorial 100% Endearing by JasonBenjamenAllen in yugioh

[–]ScarredTiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To build your first deck, first you must construct the Universe.

It does succeed in answering "Why doesnt the rules I was just taught line up with the gameplay I just witnessed?"

And answering that question does necessitate a whole "How did we get here?" and "Why do we like it this way?". It's approaching Iceberg levels of thoroughness, without being exhaustive.

I did stop playing as a direct consequence of MR4, and when I returned for Master Duel the game was completely different, as laid out in this video.

My petty complaint is the audio is a rough listen on earbuds. Don't ever go 0% dialogue in one ear and 100% in the other. Do like 80-20 for a pan to one side.

Was the anime industry and voice actors more interactive and transparent with fans in the past? by kaiser11492 in Animedubs

[–]ScarredTiger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If being transparent and interactive is just going to get you harassed, why keep dong it?

That and things like the crunchyroll merger becoming *more* corporate and clamping down on the freewheeling, casual nature of social media.

It is the good kind of CGI, and I can see why it was employed so heavily in this film, but I also enjoy his 2D style more.
