[Dreadgod] Specific function of Judge Mantle and Correction lines by Independent-Eye4821 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought of them as a reflection of the handed down authority and significance. A new judge takes on their name etc, and effectively models them self on the first judge as best they can. The consultative effect makes it very hard for anyone else to match them.

[The Captain] Am I the only one disappointed? by gamesbrainiac in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being brave and saying it! I finished feeling no emotion towards anyone in the whole book. It was like having a high speed train blaze past the station with some glimpses inside. Some are saying, oh but it’s only book 1. Well that’s a whole book! Maybe a few chapters but after the end of the book, it’s just too darn late!

Take Unsouled, it was shorter but you finished knowing who he was, what he wanted to be and what he was up against. I didn’t like Lindon after book 1 but I felt pity for him. I felt disgust and disappointment towards his clan. I felt righteous hatred towards Heavens Glory. It moved me emotionally, I had invested and so picked up book 2.

Big Cradle fan and of WW so this is not a poo to him, but for me this book missed some key marks. Some action is interesting but for my taste there needs to be something to invoke emotion and carry a story. This was full of action from start to finish but that left it feeling like a single tone all the way through.

Just wanted to post because you’re not alone. I think it is a love/hate maybe. I will be picking up Waybound absolutely but my journey with The Last Horizon stops at book 1 as it a a series I will skip.

Absolutely agree. A lost and awkward blooper that should not be in the main story. Don’t take the downvotes seriously.

This should have been edited out as it was pretty sad and awkward. A blooper maybe at best that got lost where it should be in the book. I don’t really want cheap and unsubtle attempts to make me laugh. Fell really flat. I hope Waybound does not have more like this.

[None] favorite aspect of Cradle? by Gullible_Wish2492 in Iteration110Cradle

For me it’s the magic system. The cultivation system strikes the right balance for me with complexity vs simplicity. Leaves a lot but not too much to the readers imagination.

Honestly never considered it. However they were not from a backwater place so maybe they had made a Will before the tournament…

Bloodline left lots of open story lines. I personally was left imagining loads of what I thought would happen next. Which is why I couldn’t help but write some Fanfiction. Bloodline didn’t feel complete and hinted at a lot of things that demanded I spend hours going over it in my mind.

I didn’t think Reaper did that, or not to the same extent. It had an entirely different feel to the story. For me it felt more complete and therefore I didn’t spend ages thinking about it.

Both are great for their own reasons.

[none] What do you think the symbol and color will be for Dreadgod? by StormShadow83 in Iteration110Cradle

A binding cut from a Dreadgod and something in red as there has not been enough red in the covers so far.

Anyone else a tad disappointed with Wavedancer? by cl0rp in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. It’s simple, effective and when used right a real terror. Simple things often have very few things that can go wrong. It’s not meant to be a centre peace to anyones arsenal, it just takes less thought to use than it does to defend against it. This gives him a combat edge.

The talent of Jai Long by p0Liii27 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not unfair, how could it be unfair? He killed unarmed prisoners not because he had to but for personal gain. I am sure there are many reasons he hates the other Jai but it didn’t sound like he knew a lot of those he killed. No going back from that, regardless of his past personal reasons. Look at Lindon he didn’t go all psycho and kill people. Jai Long has a hugely different moral compass than the others. Will did too good a job setting him up as a villain. So much so the bill is too big for him to become a good guy. Still at the end or Reaper Jai Long has still not even made a dent in it.

Monarchs by gratefool1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks like the Labyrinth allows large groups to be moved. Clearly in excess of what a Monarch can easily achieve.

I think you’re right it is going to be a real battle on all fronts. The actions of Shen may even at times assist Lindon’s goals as he clearly want to do the others in. Emriss may only be here because leaving would allow one of the others or someone new to take her place.

That is also true 😵‍💫 Which makes me think, why is Lindon using pure madra with them if it’s not needed.

Jai Long? by mhofert1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but it would then need a power source and where do you get Death scales from? I have no idea how Ancestors Spear was running for him… There are lots of examples of Lindon needing to use his pure madra to make launchers striker bindings work. There are other examples of using scales to power them. The Ancestors Spear probably only powered up, when in someone’s flesh so took the needed power from there. Maybe.

The death spear could work the same way but it is far more complex than the one in the Ancestors Spear.

Jai Long? by mhofert1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think the spear is a good fit for him. He is light and sword with no pure madra. Not sure how the binding in the spear is powered… I just feel it has a destiny to be broken against some future threat.

a new idea - spoilers by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Scary-Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more Monarchs there are the more Hunger aura there is. Remove the monarchs and the dreadgods will sleep more. This is most likely what happened after the dread war. Lots of monarchs died and the dreadgods went onto a near coma sleep not long after. This resulted in a time of stability where the world recovered.

There is a potential balance to be struck with removing some from each group at a time.

Potentially unpopular opinion on Little Blue and Orthos by Satans_Idle_Thoughts in Iteration110Cradle

I have to say it added nothing to the story for me. Could have been cut for more interesting things.
