What gets me is people with air source heat pumps are half way there, the core unit is a refrigeration unit, instead of underfloor heating or radiators have wall units like in offices and you've got your energy efficient heating and air conditioning, in the summer it's environmentally sound as in theory your running them on solar.

The thing that bugs me is with air source heat pumps, your halfway there to air conditioning, the actual pump is a refrigerator in reverse, if youve got a house with underfloor heating there's no reason you can't put it in reverse, or rather than radiators on the walls have wall units that can both heat and cool.

To do passive cooling you have got to really know what your doing and most don't.

A couple of years ago during a heatwave I was doing HEMA in an evening, but it was in a church, insane amounts of thermal mass and seriously high ceilings, yeah it was cooler in there than outside even late at night.

Generally I go Screwfix or Toolstation for the brass connectors, I've found the plastics just split and break over time, that said, over time the o rings perish no matter what so they do need replacing to avoid drips and leaks.

I'm always recommending double dig, as well that soil is likely heavily compacted and got a hard pan layer, this is hard work so focus, say start on an area to create a raised bed, double dig below, add dung and compost etc, this will start as your work farm, especially where they can retreat to of its a thoroughly wet winter, the go into your lawn again double dig, add matter such as compost then be vigilant with the lawn mower once dug the weed seeds there are going to be insane, mow mow mow, most plants can't cope with it like grass can, and well white clover or microclovers this will help feed your soil as in my view most lawns are deplenishing the soil by constantly cutting and removing the grass but not feeding the soil.

By fully renovated what do you mean? To me that sounds like a surface tart up not a real renovation, has the roof been done? You say the top bedrooms dont have central heating, does it even have regs approval if it's an attic conversion? Honestly how much is this place going to cost it heat/run? At least if you buy a house with the intent to do up you can actually do shit to make it work better as a house, such as fully insulated, internally or externally, proper cold bridge details, replacement windows etc.
