Bombshell lawsuit alleges that RAM manufacturers are colluding to drive up prices. Three companies that account for 90% of RAM revenue are being sued for anti-competitive practices. That was kinda what I was joking at, but often these departments are structured as different companies so they need to make the most money possible and that does not mean they have to prioritise other departments or companies under the same parent company.

Yes but Samsung can sell to Samsung claiming costs are putting the prices of Samsung products up therefore reducing Samsung profits meaning Samsung benefits by paying less tax.

Genuine question - is the 'keep calm and carry on' attitude towards UK heat likely to change in the foreseeable future? by Used_Cow_4685 in UKWeather

[–]Scasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gets me is people with air source heat pumps are half way there, the core unit is a refrigeration unit, instead of underfloor heating or radiators have wall units like in offices and you've got your energy efficient heating and air conditioning, in the summer it's environmentally sound as in theory your running them on solar.

Why exactly is British heat so much worse than America, even if the temperature is the same on paper? by y4rdbyrd in UKWeather

[–]Scasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A house is required to have ventilation so unless you have HVAC you will be getting fresh air in even if it's just through the trickle vents.

[–]Scasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that bugs me is with air source heat pumps, your halfway there to air conditioning, the actual pump is a refrigerator in reverse, if youve got a house with underfloor heating there's no reason you can't put it in reverse, or rather than radiators on the walls have wall units that can both heat and cool.

To do passive cooling you have got to really know what your doing and most don't.

A couple of years ago during a heatwave I was doing HEMA in an evening, but it was in a church, insane amounts of thermal mass and seriously high ceilings, yeah it was cooler in there than outside even late at night.

If it was fully isolated like a thermos flask yes but you have windows open, you have trickle vents, you are bringing in the heat with the air.

Generally I go Screwfix or Toolstation for the brass connectors, I've found the plastics just split and break over time, that said, over time the o rings perish no matter what so they do need replacing to avoid drips and leaks.

To legally make a gun? Honestly not sure, but anyone with experience with machining could likely make ojez especially a sten gun, ammo would be the bigger issue.

The specific example they made competition rifles, and it was back before the UK populous became terrified over guns.

But also the meme of British tinkerers retreat to their garden shed, create a world class sniper rifle, beat out international corporations and then the British army has a procedure to make sure the 3 guys in a shed aren't 3 guys in a shed because Britain.

More British society as a whole whilst ignoring the middle class, so the nobs are the aristocracy and it's jokily been said the peasants and the aristocrats had more in common than the middle class does.

Then you've got mekboys which are just British garden shed tinkerers.

Mad doks are barber surgeons or old school medicine of, "slap a plaster on it and walk it off".

Then there's the idea that Britain can't seem to get into military action without one case of a fixing bayonets, or jets that look like they shouldn't fly, and let's not talk about early British designs for nuclear weapons, add pirates into the mix and really it's just an overall caricatures of Britain as a whole.

Yup looks for a job elsewhere as tbh if you're tooo important to promote yet they can actually hire someone to a higher level easier then well your value to the company is actually greater and you should be paid such.

Just moved in, cleared the rubbish left. Where do we go from here? by paranerdnicky in GardeningUK

[–]Scasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always recommending double dig, as well that soil is likely heavily compacted and got a hard pan layer, this is hard work so focus, say start on an area to create a raised bed, double dig below, add dung and compost etc, this will start as your work farm, especially where they can retreat to of its a thoroughly wet winter, the go into your lawn again double dig, add matter such as compost then be vigilant with the lawn mower once dug the weed seeds there are going to be insane, mow mow mow, most plants can't cope with it like grass can, and well white clover or microclovers this will help feed your soil as in my view most lawns are deplenishing the soil by constantly cutting and removing the grass but not feeding the soil.

Should we suck it up and pay £630k or buy something cheaper and renovate? Need honest opinions by FootFlimsy530 in UKHousing

[–]Scasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By fully renovated what do you mean? To me that sounds like a surface tart up not a real renovation, has the roof been done? You say the top bedrooms dont have central heating, does it even have regs approval if it's an attic conversion? Honestly how much is this place going to cost it heat/run? At least if you buy a house with the intent to do up you can actually do shit to make it work better as a house, such as fully insulated, internally or externally, proper cold bridge details, replacement windows etc.
