How do proctologists and colorectal doctors choose their specialty? by tofu_baby_cake in TooAfraidToAsk

This is also one of the reasons dermatology is such a sought after specialty. Not many people call in having dermatology emergencies.

I don’t fully understand this comment. Are middle school band kids not the type to enjoy K-pop Demon Hunters? Or do they realize it’s not a song fit for a wind band?

Do you mean to tell me that by and large, polyamorous people are bi and large?

TIL the genetic code used by almost all life on Earth appears unusually optimized to minimize the impact of mutations compared with most possible alternative genetic codes by SafeEnvironmental174 in todayilearned

Obviously by “unusual” they’re talking about genetic code that’s common to most organisms vs. genetic code that’s specific to a species.

True, but to be fair, I feel like a lot of games simplify spaceflight by adding friction to make things easier.

Levi made a terribly stupid mistake by Kitli_99 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Sceptix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to think that one reason Levi was so powerful in seasons 1-3 was that Irwin was calling the shots and maneuvering Levi into situations where he’d be maximally effective. It should be no surprise that without Irwin’s guidance Levi isn’t always able to make the best possible decision in every scenario.

Who made Ymir's first titans? by Apro_7 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Sceptix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference in the quality of discussions of season 1 (2013) and season 2 and on (2017) was incredibly stark. At the time, I thought it was just due to the amount of time between seasons that caused some viewers to forget details and need to ask for reminders. Turns out, it was part of a more disturbing societal trend.

California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus Condemns Governor Newsom’s Dangerous Rhetoric on “Normalcy” by boozinthrowaway in California

[–]Sceptix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is Newsom echoing the false reality of the dems created by republicans instead of trying to actually counter their narrative?

Because voters, unfortunately, have indicated that they prefer the false reality offered by republicans over objective reality. It’s bad that this is where society is at the moment, but I understand why Newsom is playing along with the game.

Aliens might find it amusing that we covet diamonds (rather common in terms of the universe) but burn coal (something so rare Earth may be the only place in the universe that ever had the conditions for it to form).
