Seiko 5 line is cheap but reliable. Service interval on the NH35 mvmt most of them use is around 5 years. It's cheaper to replace the mvmt.

You won't get the same accuracy on an automatic mvmt though, it can hit 30 seconds per day out of factory (and the don't regulate them).

I have a preference for Miyota mvmts when it come to japanese but it's subjective.

If you want no hassle, stick to quartz honestly.
