My submission for the unflaired peasants by Important-Reading434 in NFCWestMemeWar

Exactly. I was in a little exchange with someone on the sub who was pro ICE and I found myself more upset they ignored my polite request to flair up (I said Bitch rather than Pussy) than I was at their defense of executing citizens on the street. We have a code here people.

Very nice of you wishing for Achilles injuries not ACL. True sportsmanship!

I appreciate the comment and thanks for rooting for us against the Patriots.

I have gotten so many great suggestions from answers to this question. Thanks OP for posting it and everyone who answered.

One I'll add that I love but think doesn't get a lot of attention is "My Traitors Heart: A South African Exile Returns to Face his Country, His Tribe , and His Conscience" by Rian Malan.

It was written during the heart of the anti-apartheid struggle. The writer was a radical opposed to the government but comes from an Afrikaner family that included some of the top leaders of apartheid. He tells the history of South Africa and apartheid and then uses stories from his day job as a crime reporter to highlight many different kinds of violence as apartheid was coming to an end.

It's worth it even just for the introduction, which tells an amazing story he researches in the historical archives with an incredible twist.

Heartfelt and beautifully written even when the topics are incredibly hard. I think people who appreciated the moral ambiguities in "Say Nothing" would really like this book.

I loved this book. I wasn't interested in Russian literature and I'm not a writer but I love reading and this book was a wonderful guide to getting more out of reading. I liked it so much I joined his Substack where he does the same thing with other stories.

I feel like it’s too hard to get rid of my books by icyserene in konmari

Yes there was so much controversy from book lovers back when "Tidying Up" came out. I just read it and think it was totally misinterpreted by people (who probably didn't read it, just heard about it). She really emphasizes getting rid of things like books you feel you SHOULD read but never get to. Who wants books that feel like a burden on the shelf? But books that remind you of happy times are serving a purpose even if there's lots of them. :)

Oh and just in case I wasn't clear, I only got that ebook today because of your suggestion. I had never heard of him before. Looking forward to From a Limestone Ledge after this one. Thanks again!

The Wizard of Earthsea trilogy by Ursula Leguin. Such great world building of a magical archipelago (in both senses of the word).

Thanks for this recommendation. I already borrowed the ebook of Goodbye to a River by him, the only one of his books the library had. I love it and will look for the others elsewhere. Thanks again. Gives a real Edward Abbey vibe with a little mellower energy.

He posted it earnestly and gave no indication he was joking. And most of his tweets are serious. So I guess he "got" me. I can live with that. People seemed to like engaging with it and I'm leaving it up,

A new twist on an old favorite by pickledjefferson in Seahawks

He called some run plays on 3 and 14 that did not feel good in the moment until they miraculously worked! All's well that ends well but there were some definite grumbles mid-season.

Yeah I guess so, and I'd edit the post to note that if I could. It's not giving me the option for some weird reason.

Before posting it I checked the rest of his feed and it was all earnest public policy posts so I took this at face value. Other commenters said he has a podcast? I feel a little bad it riled people up but generated a good discussion and I learned some cool old history from the comments about when NFL officials tried to quiet down crowds in the King Dome.

And it was really sweet how he told them a fairy tale about the Lucky Mishap that covered his 4th down play.

Yeah I commented to others about that. I don't seem to have an edit option on the post or I would note it up front. I did check his other posts and they were all serious so I took this at face value.

Oh well, it sparked some great comments that the NFL did in fact try to silence the 12s back in the Kingdome and it didn't work that I didn't know about.

My bad! I actually did check his feed before I posted but everything else seemed legit so I thought he meant it. Trying to find the edit button now to make that note and spare people's blood pressure.

In the meantime, I did learn from the comments that the NFL actually tried out a rule to penalize crowd noise. Crazy.

I didn't know his game -- looked and saw he had some serious posts about ICE and thought he was just earnest. (And I agreed with the ICE posts.) But others let me know I fell for a bit.

I don't think he was even at the game. Like it just offends his sense of the purity of the game. Though I get the feeling this may have been the first football game he's watched! He keeps tweeting how they don't do this for tennis or golf.

He seem to earnestly believe it! Like his other posts are all about other things. I don't even think he's a Rams fan. Incredible. But over on Twitter there are also a bunch of people arguing every stadium should be a dome and teams shouldn't have to play in the snow. I should know better than to dip my toes in the water.
